Christopher Hitchens, a sharp-witted provocateur who used his formidable learning, biting wit and muscular prose style to skewer what he considered high-placed hypocrites, craven lackeys of the right and left, “Islamic fascists” and religious faith of any kind, died Thursday “from pneumonia, a complication of esophageal cancer,” according to Vanity Fair, the magazine for which Mr. Hitchens worked. 1. Wouldn't want to have been in his rhetorical cross-hairs.
I think he was completely wrong on supporting the Iraq invasion and he could, at times, be a pompous ass...but he was brilliant in his writing and elocution.

3. Ironic timing that Hitchens passed on same day as Iraqi "war" finally "ends".
He supported the military effort wholeheartedly.
