Jamiel Terry, Son of Pro-life Leader Randall Terry, Killed in Car Crash

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga., Dec. 1, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- On November 30, at 7:00 A.M., Jamiel Terry, age 31, was killed in a head on collision in Lilburn, Georgia. Gwinnett police spokesman Jake Smith said that the three passengers in the other vehicle were hospitalized with injuries that were not life threatening. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.

Jamiel Terry was the adopted son of Operation Rescue Founder, Randall Terry, who is currently in the Democratic Primary for President for 2012.

Background:

Jamiel Terry and his younger sister were adopted by Mr. Terry and his first wife in 1994, after being in foster care with the Terry's since 1988.

In 2006, Jamiel Terry made national headlines with his announcement that he was a practicing homosexual, and began to promote homosexual marriage. Randall Terry has long been engaged in high profile political efforts to defeat the attempt to legalize homosexual marriage.

While I do not care a whit about Mr. Terry or his ilk I do offer my sympathies to the family and friends that cared for Jamiel.

On edit: My apologies on the link. I can only find the story on these types of pages. No larger distribution paper seems to carry it.

1. Isn't the father of the deceased the shithead
who pulled all those stunts over Terry Schaivo?

Sorry to hear about the kid. My sympathies to the survivors, that sucks. But the father... I'll reserve my passing rage for another thread. Doesn't belong here.

2. Democratic Primary??
So Randall is running against President Obama in the primary? Yeah, that makes sense.

I would want to know how the relationship was between the two, right up to the very last second. Who knows if there is any connection, but for a guy like randall terry, anything is possible. Especially since his adopted son was practicing something he was vehemently opposed to.

5. "I Don't Even Hate Him for That, But It Just Hurts Me
Jamiel Terry talks about why he came out in print and growing up the gay son of Operation Rescue founder Randall Terry.

Longtime anti-abortion activist Randall Terry in recent years has campaigned against gay marriage and "homosexual perversions." So it was of some embarrassment to him when his son Jamiel wrote an article in the current issue of Out magazine revealing that he is gay. Terry responded by writing an op-ed, sharply criticizing his son and saying, "He is no longer welcome in my home."

My Prodigal Son, the Homosexual
The story Out magazine paid my son to write is full of fraud and deceit.

Editor's note: Randall Terry led the nation's largest civil disobedience movement (terrorist -ed), "Operation Rescue," in opposition to abortion. He is an outspoken opponent of granting special rights to homosexuals, and led the fight against "same-sex marriage" in Hawaii and Vermont. His current work is online at OperationWitness.com.

I am still in a state of shock; I have been grieving for days. My son, Jamiel Terry, was paid $5,000 by Out magazine (to appear April 20, 2004, on newsstands) to write a story about being Randall Terry's homosexual son. I pray my following words help other grieving parents and serve as a warning to moms and dads of small children to be unflinchingly and unashamedly diligent to protect their children from predators, and bring a reality check to those exploiting my son.

First of all, I love my son. Jamiel is incredibly gifted. He is articulate and handsome. He sings like an angel, he plays the piano, he's a great cook, and he's a great debater. He would make a powerful lawyer and a formidable politician. People like him. I love him. (? -ed) I've poured 16 years of my life into him.

In March of 1988, my then-wife and I took Jamiel in as a foster child when he was 8 years old. We also took in his baby sister (almost 3 years old)) and their older sister (12 years old). We adopted him and his younger sister when he was nearly 15 and she was 9. He came to us as a deeply troubled boy, from a very dark home. He was literally born in jail.

Tragically, by the time we got him as a foster child, he had already learned a lifestyle of deceit from his surroundings and had been a victim of crimes and treacheries that would mar him for life. I knew of some of those things when we got him and have learned more over the years. My hope was that by providing a loving, safe home, his life would be spared the path it would inevitably take if he remained in those surroundings. Unfortunately, my hopes and prayers were not realized.

My son's teen years became a mixed stream of happy times mingled with half-truths, dishonesty and a double life. His behavior grew worse and worse in college, culminating with the story in Out magazine.

I cannot find Jamiel's editorial at Out Magazine www.out.com

I knew young people who drove in a "risky"/suicidal manner. Alcoholics with abusive fathers.

Waddya want because he was gay? A refund?

Now that the poor boy is suddenly dead, I wonder if "the gay" still matters to Randell?

Probably.

14. I'm surprised Randall Terry's religious buddies haven't declared that God
killed Jamiel for outing himself and for his activism.

I'm sorry for those who knew and loved Jamiel. I hope they all find peace, and may he RIP.

This would seem to be a ready made "opportunity" for their shenanigans.

12. wow...knew...
He was gay.

He and his sister were adopted.

OK, so this is a sad event.

Will that crazy church be protesting at his funeral? AND, what would crazy dad have to say about that?
