White House Weighs In On Anti-Union Law Repeal Vote

The White House just weighed in on the repeal of Gov. John Kasich's anti-collective bargaining law in Ohio, with Press Secretary Jay Carney offering the following statement.

“The President congratulates the people of Ohio for standing up for workers and defeating efforts to strip away collective bargaining rights, and commends the teachers, firefighters, nurses, police officers and other workers who took a stand to defend those rights. "

-- Sam Stein

7. "defeating efforts to strip away"
Edited on Tue Nov-08-11 10:35 PM by targetpractice
Yup, I'm glad we defeated those dastardly "efforts" that are against us. Why can't he ever actually call out "Republicans" by name?

The "we" "some" "congress" "washington" woulda coulda shoulda language is not helping folks who don't pay attention to make decisions about who is responsible. Obama's communication style is so passive and lacking the strong point of view that most voters crave.

I am so frustrated about this. But, I'm glad we won in Ohio. ;-)

Simple question: Yes or No...

15. We already know what the results would be to all those.
Problem is how do we 'organize' a national referendum?

(Since the elected ones won't.)

17. Is there a #OccupyCongress group?
Well, the steps somewhere in front of it out there.

Or a #OccupyUnconstitutionalSupercommittee and a #OccupyWH for that matter? (With appropriate signs.)

19. I've found a couple of links (Occupy Congress):
Progressive Democrat Candidates Try to Occupy Congress
http://romanticpoet.wordpress.com/2011/10/30/progressive-democrat-candidates-try-to-occupy-congress/

and

http://twitter.com/#!/Occupy_Congress

But a real #OC is needed ASAP to oppose the $1.2 TRILLION cuts coming up too soon!

20. Recall hearing that something had begun there ....
Good luck to them all --

and agree with you --

but this whole cutting of safety nets is something Dems aren't standing

against -- they're helping!!

Where's Obama speaking out against them?

Haven't seen anyone talking about this but on Olberman the other night he showed

Guiliani appearing some where and dissing OWS saying they should forget the

"Occupy" and "GO GET A JOB!!" --

Couldn't believe it --

So glad you threw in your support when the WI 14 were hightailing it to IL to prevent the vote from taking place.
