Effort to recall Wis. governor to start Nov. 15

The effort to recall Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker from office will begin Nov. 15.

Chairman Mike Tate announced on the state Democratic Party's website Monday that petitions will be circulated starting then. Supporters of recalling Walker will have to collect 540,208 signatures by Jan. 13.

The Walker recall is motivated by the Republican governor's proposal taking away nearly all collective bargaining rights from most public workers.

Once signatures are submitted to the Government Accountability Board, it has 31 days to review them, but it is likely to seek an extension. The election must be six Tuesdays from the day signatures are verified.

In just a few hours, I will go live on The Ed Shultz Show at 9:00 CST to announce that, in collaboration with United Wisconsin, the grassroots effort to recall Scott Walker will begin Nov.15th.

We wanted activists like you to be the first to hear the news because you know what it will take to win this fight.

In fewer than 37 days, we will need to organize, train and fund an army of grassroots volunteers who will need to collect more than 540,206 valid recall signatures.

12. If the Kochs thought they controlled everything by rigging the voting machines,
they wouldn't be spending money on the teebaggers and donating to conservative groups.

Edited on Mon Oct-10-11 09:46 PM by cal04
officially filing Nov. 15th
Sixty days for the signatures
540,208 to collect
putting together the staff and teams
we are prepared and ready
I think we can get the signatures. Very well prepared.
Contribute 3,4, or 5 dollars if you don't live in the state
It will take place (the election if they get signatures), likely, May or early spring
won't be on primary. Uncharted territory. We're going to make history!
Released poll, he's unpopular. People would prefer recall, well over 50%
It's going to be tough. Too important to wait.
