State Sen. Gwen Howard of Omaha is joining the race for Rep. Lee Terry's seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
A formal announcement has been scheduled for 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Sheet Metal Workers Local 3 at 3333 S. 24th St. in Omaha. E-mail invitations to the event were sent out Monday by the Nebraska Democratic Party.
Howard, 66, is a social worker in her second term in the Nebraska Legislature. Term limits prevent her from seeking a third term.
She will face fellow Democrat and Douglas County Treasurer John Ewing Jr. in the primary. He announced his candidacy in July.
