Six Points Separate Democrat David Weprin, GOP's Bob Turner In New NY-9 Siena Poll
Source: NY Daily News

Democrat David Weprin leads GOP contender Bob Turner 48% to 42% in the latest Siena poll on NY-9.

“Five weeks until Election Day, and this special election is a wide-open race with both candidates trying to become more known to the voters of the district and earn their support,” Siena pollster Steven Greenberg said.

The news was bad for Weprin, a state assemblyman, who has greater name recognition and a string of high-powered endorsements from Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand.

Weprin has blasted Turner as a Tea Partier who would like nothing better than to slash Medicare. Turner has countered by painting Weprin as a career hack who would only add to the problems in Washington.

1. A six-point lead is "bad news?" If the Repub had it, headline would be "threatens landslide"

3. It's supposedly bad because this is a Democratic leaning district...
Anyway, I have no concerns with this seat. The Republican will lose, probably by a very wide margin.

4. ah -- so a Repub six points behind augurs a "sea change," whereas a Dem trailing would mean
..."people rejecting Democratic message"

5. It all depends on what the turnout was. Did people come out and vote?

7. Why are you using a past tense?
And why would anyone vote for the worthless Weprin? But replacing an aggressive liberal was no biggie to DU.

9. Didn't realize I did. What I am saying is that if the turnout is small
then it does not reflect the whole picture.

6. Geez, Forest Hills isn't an easy liberal district.
Oh, you guys thought it was a safe seat replacement. You thought we'd just get an equivalent liberal fighter instead of a party hack nobody can stand.

Well, wasn't that a clever calculation. Nothing like screaming for the blood of every liberal the Republicans target.
