WV Acting Gov. Tomblin Receives NRA Endorsement, Maloney Launches TV Ads

With less than two months left in the 2011 special election for governor of West Virginia, one campaign is receiving a boost while another is putting its name out there.

Senate President Earl Ray Tomblin, the acting governor and Democratic nominee for governo, received the endorsement of the National Rifle Association – something he has received in every election since the formation of the NRA’s Political Victory Fund.

According to a press release from the Tomblin campaign, the NRA endorsed Tomblin for his commitment to gun rights.

“Your ‘A’ rating is a reflection of your record on Second Amendment issues during your 37-year career in elective office as well as your responses to our state candidate questionnaire,” said Daniel M. Carey, West Virginia State Liaison for NRA-ILA State and Local Affairs, in a letter. “During your tenure in office, you have consistently proven your commitment to protecting the rights of law-abiding firearm owners and sportsmen in West Virginia.”
