MK Ben-Eliezer: Israel offered political asylum to Mubarak
Source: Haaretz

MK Benjamin Ben-Eliezer (Labor) told Army Radio on Wednesday that he and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak political asylum several months ago.

Ben-Eliezer's statement came on the same day that Mubarak was transported from Sharm el-Sheikh to Cairo to stand trial for conspiring to kill protesters during demonstrations that led to his ouster earlier this year.

--snip--

"I am convinced that the Israel government would have accepted him but he declined because he was a patriot."

2. I am convinced that the Israel government would have accepted him...
especially if he brought along the billions he and his family stole from the Egyptian people.
