Uzbekistan man indicted on charges of threatening to kill President Obama
Source: CNN

(CNN) -- A 21-year-old man from Uzbekistan was indicted Tuesday and charged with threatening to kill President Barack Obama.

Authorities say Ulugbek Kodirov was in the U.S. illegally after his student visa was revoked and had obtained a machine gun and a grenade.

Kodirov was charged with four counts of threatening the president and others weapons charges, the Justice Department said Tuesday.

He was arrested on July 13 in a motel in Leeds, Alabama, after he obtained the machine gun from an undercover agent.

3. Correction: In U.S. illegally, cannot exercise Second Amendment...
Further, he was arrested for violating -- voila! -- gun laws supported by the NRA.

If you need further corrections, or if you need to improve your "progressive" philosophy (sounds a little RW), I will be glad to help.

Incidentally: MLK applied for a concealed-carry after his Birmingham house was bombed in 1955. Jim Crow gun laws prevented his obtaining a license.

7. I read it....
Hard fact for you: MLK applied for a concealed-carry permit just after his Birmingham house was bombed in 1955, and was denied it by the Jim Crow authorities.

I know you are jealous about my sleeping arrangements (since you brought them up), but rest assured I sleep with women, since that does seem to be a concern of yours.

More on MLK and his agreement with Gandhi on the roles of violence:

"The second is violence exercised in self-defense, which all societies, from the most primitive to the most cultured and civilized, accept as moral and legal. The principle of self-defense, even involving weapons and bloodshed, has never been condemned, even by Gandhi, who sanctioned it for those unable to master pure nonviolence."

http://www.quietspaces.com/kingquotes.html

When you get through with your "hateration," recognize that Gandhi and King both conceded that violence in self-defense for those who had not mastered the complete ethic of non-violence is much preferred to (in Gandhi's words) "cowardice."

All clear now?

5. and another thing
the constitution applies to persons within US juridiction, not only to citizens. So there's a little lesson for ya.

8. Wrong again...
You do not have to be a citizen to be protected by the Constitution. But when you are here falsely, this can and is overridden by authorities, esp. at the State Department level.

9. Second amendment applies to people
Not citizens.

"the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

If they only wanted citizens to own guns, the founding fathers would have said citizens. They were really really smart about writing things correctly.

6. The US has supported the awful Uzbek government as an "ally in the war on terror"
Edited on Wed Jul-27-11 08:07 PM by Lars77
Of course, it's not exactly a freedom-loving government.

Former British Ambassador til Uzbekistan Craig Murray documented the atrocities of their government in his book "Murder in Samarkand", which made him leave his career as a diplomat.

We are talking about a dictatorship who executes people by boiling them alive and dumping the blue, bloated body on the doorstep of the family afterwards.

And who uses forced child labour to harvest its cotton crops.

Because of this oppressive regime, supported by the US, Uzbekistan now has an active islamist insurgency.

http://www.craigmurray.org.uk/books/murder-in-samarkand/

It is a country rich in natural resources, but 45% of the people live on less than a dollar a day.

The US used an airbase there until 2005 when they were kicked out due to criticism over the Uzbekistani governments mass murder in the Andijan Massacre.
