Allen West Calls DNC Chair ‘Vile,’ ‘Despicable’ And ‘Not A Lady’
Source: Talking Points Memo

West's tirade against Wasserman Schultz came after she chastised him on the House floor for supporting the Cut, Cap and Balance debt ceiling deal favored by the House GOP. Wasserman Schultz called out West -- not by name -- for supporting a plan she said would "increase costs for Medicare beneficiaries," which she said was "unbelievable from a Member from South Florida."

...

This triggered the following response from West:

Subject: Unprofessional and Inappropriate Sophomoric Behavior from Wasserman-Schultz
Look, Debbie, I understand that after I departed the House floor you directed your floor speech comments directly towards me. Let me make myself perfectly clear, you want a personal fight, I am happy to oblige. You are the most vile, unprofessional ,and despicable member of the US House of Representatives. If you have something to say to me, stop being a coward and say it to my face, otherwise, shut the heck up. Focus on your own congressional district!

I am bringing your actions today to our Majority Leader and Majority Whip and from this time forward, understand that I shall defend myself forthright against your heinous characterless behavior......which dates back to the disgusting protest you ordered at my campaign hqs, October 2010 in Deerfield Beach.

You have proven repeatedly that you are not a Lady, therefore, shall not be afforded due respect from me!

God I hope people keep messing with him. It would be hilarious to see him keep flipping out!

4. He's definitely no lady, that's for sure!
However, with that haircut, he does look like Grace Jones in man-drag.

3. Can the Congressman from South Florida kindly appear in the well.
That type of language is totally inappropriate from a member of congress.

5. Looks like Debbie pushed his buttons pretty well.
I hope she does it a few more times so that he has a total melt down in public.
I really feel that West is a lightweight.

6. Wow - all she said was the truth -
he was backing a plan that would raise costs for recipients of Medicare. The only other descriptor was "delegate from South Florida.

His response though calls her a wide range of inappropriate names - I mean "vile" and "despicable"? All for saying a plan that raises costs - raises cots? One thing is certain - she struck a nerve. Just listening to them tells you that one is a nutcase, but that was already thought of him.

7. So rather than stick around for the debate, he left, and then he complains that he's not there?
Jeez, is he still in grade school? "That's what I think, and now I'm covering my ears so I can't hear, and you can't talk about me, so there! And you're a poopy-head if you do!"

8. OK, now everybody watch. There will be an important lesson to be learned here.
What he said was despicable and offensive.

Now, with that out of the way, here is the lesson:

He will be pressed and badgered to apologize. He will refuse to do so. He will be pressed and badgered again to apologize. He will again refuse to do so. Then the media and the Democrats will give it up and move on.

These Republicans, more so than Democrats, realize that apologies are a sign of defeat, capitulation and weakness. It's not about actually being sorry for anything, no, it's about making your opponents do a walk of shame and humiliation by having to publicly apologize, even if they don't actually mean it. People like West and Joe Wilson realize this better than most Democrats, and they will not take the apology bait.

You won't see Alan West giving a blubbering apology on the floor of the House like a certain Democratic Senator did 7 years ago.

Just watch.

.... being taken seriously by anyone...whether he apologizes or not.

(Come to think of it, when has a black Repug from the South been taken seriously... even by his own party? Is Michell Bachmann gonna be yelling out "You da MAN!" to him soon?)

9. OMG, he really hates women
if he can get upset by her speech. She and all her female colleagues should now work on making his life miserable. All they have to do is keep publicly addressing their policy disagreements with him in a calm and professional manner and he will soon loose it completely.

the only thing left to do is keep relighting it until
an explosion is accomplished. Doesn't look as if it
will take long in this instance.

19. Exactly!
Keep pushing and pushing and making the good people of his district realize what a nutjob he is.

Okay, its obvious already, but at least now he'll appear to be a weak nutjob at that.

Iraq interrogation incident

While serving in Taji, Iraq, West received information from an intelligence specialist about a reported plot to ambush him and his men.<11> The alleged plot reportedly involved Yahya Jhodri Hamoodi, a civilian Iraqi police officer.<11> West, who was not responsible for conducting interrogations in Iraq and had never conducted or witnessed one, had his men detain Hamoodi.<11> In the process of detaining Mr. Hamoodi, soldiers testified that Mr. Hamoodi appeared to go for his weapon and needed to be subdued.<11> Hamoodi was beaten by four of his soldiers from the 220th Field Artillery Battalion on the head and body.<12> West then fired his pistol near Hamoodi's head.<11> Hamoodi then provided West with names and information, what Hamoodi later described as "meaningless information induced by fear and pain."<11> At least one suspect was arrested as a result, but no plans for attacks or weapons were found.<11> West said "At the time I had to base my decision on the intelligence I received. It's possible that I was wrong about Mr. Hamoodi."<11>

West was charged with violating articles 128 (assault) and 134 (general article) of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. During a hearing held as part of an Article 32 investigation in November 2003, West stated, "I know the method I used was not right, but I wanted to take care of my soldiers." The charges were ultimately referred to an Article 15 proceeding rather than court-martial, at which West was fined $5,000.<11> LTC West accepted the judgment and retired with full benefits in the summer of 2004. Asked if he would have acted differently if under similar circumstances again, West testified, "If it's about the lives of my soldiers at stake, I'd go through hell with a gasoline can."<13> After Colonel West was relieved of his command, an interpreter employed by a private contractor said that without his presence the region he previously oversaw "became more dangerous and chaotic".<11>
