Website of Murdoch’s Sun Hacked
Source: New York Magazine

In a grisly prank, someone has hacked the website for Rupert Murdoch's The Sun newspaper and replaced the lead story with one about Murdoch himself being found dead. The website thesun.co.uk redirects users immediately to new-times.co.uk/sun/, which hosts a story titled "Media moguls body discovered."

26. Some people need to realize that what happens on the internet is not
Edited on Tue Jul-19-11 08:59 PM by JAnthony
real life, but only electrons.

. Shutting down a newspaper with 200+ employees is real and horrible. Bribing Scotland yard and denying knowing about it is real and horrible.

Faking a headline on a website is not!

Get some perspective

19. Nonsense...
Poor whomever thought that issuing a death statement was funny. I don't care who the pretend victim is, it's wrong. It's wrong when the right does stupid shit like this and it's wrong when the left does it... or when anyone a-political does it... whenever ANYONE does that morbid evil crap, it's wrong.

Just because you are clearly not above it, it doesn't make it right.

23. Sanctimony...
Edited on Tue Jul-19-11 08:18 PM by BNJMN
...it's the scourge of the innertubes.

Also, not every single thing the Republicans do is wrong.
That seems like a weak argument against something.

"Whaddaya, one of those one pantleg at a time Republicans?"

I happen to agree with the death penalty (is that a banable offense here? Guess I'll find out shortly)
and think ol' Ruppie, while not deserving the death penalty, is certainly not above a humorous jab in that direction.

Humorous death notices for real assholes is funny.
Humorous death notices for mere political opponents is messed up.

That's where I stand at least.

13. LulzSec Defaces Murdoch Paper With Mogul’s Fake Death Notice
Source: Wired News

They’re back. The hacker gang LulzSec, after declaring retirement last month, cracked the Rupert Murdoch–owned New Times on Monday and used it to host a fake news story declaring that the embattled media mogul had been found dead at his home.

It would totally ruin LulzSec's hacking.

That's how you get 'em, Rupert!

17. Murdoch should be beaten to death with a bag of penises.
Sorry if that offends anyone but it's true.
I feel absolutely ZERO pity for this scummy rich maggot.
He has many people's blood on his hands and is one
of the most evil people in power today.

24. i'll save my sympathy for murdoch's victims, over his long career -
of riding roughshod over folks & destroying whatever got in the way of his egotistical self-aggrandizement.

i find it truly amazing, that a kids' prank which did zero physical damage to the so-called victim, would be so hyperbolically labeled as: "truly frightening".
