DNC's Ad Mocks Bush Over News Conference
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A18769-2004Apr16.html

Washington Post
Saturday, April 17, 2004; Page A05

The Democratic National Committee is trying to hang President Bush with his own words -- and pauses.

A mocking ad posted on the party's Web site yesterday uses footage of Bush struggling at Tuesday's news conference to answer a question from Time magazine's John Dickerson on what has been his biggest mistake in office.

"Hmm. I wish you had given me this written question ahead of time so I could plan for it," the president is shown saying, slowly. "You know I just, uh, I'm sure something will pop into my head here, in the midst of this press conference, with all the pressure of trying to come up with an answer, but it hadn't yet. . . . You just put me under the spot here, and maybe I'm not as quick on my feet as I should be on coming up with one."

Some suggested mistakes fill the screen: "Mission accomplished." "We found the weapons of mass destruction." "Bring 'em on." The tag line: "Credibility is on the ballot this November."

6. LOL
That's funny because the DNC claimed that they couldn't air it on TV because the video was copyrighted to CNN.

5. Not bad, yet there continues to be numbers of braind dead morans...
like the nut who wrote this to the SF Chronicle editor:

http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2004/04/16/EDG8D655411.DTL

---------
Bush-baiting media
Editor -- The behavior of the various reporters at the April 13 presidential press conference made it abundantly clear why the public holds the media in cynical contempt. These trial-lawyer wannabes baited the president every which way in order to get a John Kerry sound bite -- and the president handled them with courtesy and complete understanding of what they were after.

Compared to the changeable and feckless dithering of Kerry, the president was confident and true to his goals and he will have my vote in November.

CONNIE BERTO

I'm afraid some morans are beyond repair.

16. Do a Google search on the following
"feckless dithering Kerry" or "feckless dithering Gore" or "feckless dithering Clinton" and you get all kinds of RW sites, including Free Repugnant. She's just using their talking points. Another example of a Freeper without enough brains to think for herself. They probably have a list of KKKarl Rove approved buzzwords.

27. Not only that, but............
the usage of the phrase "trying to get a Kerry sound bite" out of Bush, came directly from Limbaugh's mouth as he was desperately trying to explain why his leader is such a dumbass.

Amazing how quickly things travel on the rotted right-wing grapevine.

10. Tht IS good. Have never heard it.
Republicans seem to believe it's unmanly to learn more information, and grow into a new understanding of anything.

The quote you posted is well formed. Thanks.

that Keynes quote should be emblazoned on Kerry for prez shirts. take that flip-flop nonsense pushed about and turn it back on them. shows the whole 'steadfast' bush attitude for the farce it is... stubborn stupidity.

Edited on Sat Apr-17-04 06:33 PM by Lisa
Sounds more like "inflexible", doesn't it!

p.s. one of the actors from "The West Wing" commented that he found it strange that longtime friends of Bush said that the thing they admired most about him was how he hadn't changed during the decades they'd known him ... what kind of person doesn't learn, mature, and otherwise transform due to life's experiences?

They should list more specifics: jobs, the stock market, the budget deficit, weapons of mass destruction, and so on.

22. My Dream Ad
In the days leading up to the Bush/Kerry Debate, they should run a series of "Bush vs. Bush" debates. Use footage from the 2000 debates with Al Gore saying, for example, that the U.S. wouldn't engage in "nation building," countered by a clip from Bush explaining that we'll be keeping our troops in Iraq indefinitely.

I'm sure there must be a half dozen good clips on other subjects.

24. Bush vs. Bush: Like they did on the Daily Show!
Sometime at the beggining of the war, John Stewart put together a debate between President George W. Bush 2002, and Govenor George W. Bush from the 2000 campaign. It shows the stark contrast between what the man said to sneak into office, and what he has done since aquiring power. It is very enlightening.

25. Why not play "Secretary of State Rumsfeld" clip?
Shrub was flailing on his news "conference"! Was a horrific thing to watch. To think he represents the best America has to offer is terrifying. The Chimp is a disgrace and an irrevocable stain on our national image! A shame, a travesty, an imbecile wearing a suit!

1. something to the effect of if he can't stand the pressure of a damn press conference, how can we trust him to make decisions for our country when the real pressure is on. finger on the button stuff.

2. add that insensitive joke about looking for WMDs under the coffee table played over pictures of funerals.
