3. But why?
I thought Ryan was brave and bold... and daring.
At least that's what the liberal media has been telling me

13. Ryan is a classic sociopath who should not be allowed to occupy any public office.

5. If it's Paul Ryan's opponent, I'll stand behind. Unless he's a manure spreader.
Then it's off.

6. I hope this fella has something between his ears but "talking points"...
Edited on Sun Jun-05-11 10:21 PM by Hulk
Just saying....I was so disappointed with the Democratic challenger against rand paul, michelle bachmann's Democratic challenger, and the empty headed challenger there in VA for the Senate seat in the last election...I think I actually might have stayed home from voting for the Democrat. Even Sestack was a loser, in my humble opinion.
Don't get your panties in a bind...I would have voted; but we need challengers that have something besides just cheap ass "aqua boda" and cheap kerry talking points. We need more Russ Feingolds and Dennis Kucinich's.

8. Its foolish to expect Feingolds and Kucinichs,
and we're doomed if thats what Dems expect, imo. Obviously those 2 are exceptional.

11. No, actually, we're doomed if we expect less than that.
Anybody has got to EARN my vote. I'll never vote for a Republican, but a "D" behind your name doesn't insure a vote. Especially if you're a Blue Dog, a New Democrat, or a DLC'er.

Bill Nelson take note. Go fuck yourself. I'll be an undervote.

17. Geez, man. At least write in someone. If you stay home, that can be spun as anything,
including a desire to see Nelson go further right.

You KNOW neither side will spin it as Democrats being too far right for your tastes.

12. The American people should expect exceptional.
We should always expect exceptional representation from all our candidates and office holders. Hey, let's face it, it's a good gig.

I will not support anti-New Deal, anti-labor Democrats.

Democrats that favor higher taxes on the wealthy, an end to these unproductive ridiculous wars, labor rights and moving toward a more equitable economy are not radicals, they are right where the American people are, even many Republicans. We should never settle for less.

7. Get Rid of That Heartless Bastard Ryan
Edited on Sun Jun-05-11 11:11 PM by dballance
Get rid of that SOB. What a heartless piece of crap. He needs to go just like the rest of the GOP scum that supports him and acts like him. Cantor and McConnell need to go too.

9. Can he be beaten in his district?
He has been in office a long time, first elected in 1998. His constituents must like him.

Good luck to Zerban.

21. His district was traditionally Democratic - he's been successful because
he's coasted by on his "aw shucks" persona. I guarantee that many of his constituents are surprised to learn how uber conservative he is. His well crafted image is beginning to tarnish.

16. We need to start
asking the Dems who are running for office to be very clear on where they stand as far as Israel goes. I am sick to death of elected officials signing personal pledges to a foreign country. If they are willing to give unconditional support for Israel's criminal right wing government, they will not get my vote.

"Larry Wilkerson, a former chief of staff to then-Secretary of State Colin Powell, appeared on The Real News to discuss Congress’s reaction.

“Even the obsequiousness of the United States Congress from time to time during States of the Union or other type speeches doesn’t come anywhere near this” Wilkerson marveled. “This was a refutation, really, of the standing policy position of the sitting president of the United States by the separate and equal branch of government, the Congress, with a foreign leader being the center pole around which they coalesced this opposition. It’s really quite remarkable.”

When asked what he thought might explain the reaction, Wilkerson replied, “It’s a mystery to me, except money. That’s the only answer I can come up with. … Congressmen and women … understand what a powerful entity in America is the lobby group AIPAC for Israel, and that generates a lot of coin, a lot of money."

19. Zerban's political resume, as described by him. seems thin, to say the least.

Is this really the best we can put up against someone with Ryan's name recognition? No former mayors or other higher profile people?
