Ten Commandments judge explores presidential run
By Associated Press

The former Alabama judge known for refusing to remove a Ten Commandments monument from the state courthouse says he is forming an exploratory committee for a possible presidential run.

Former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore made the announcement Monday on the Des Moines, Iowa, radio station WHO. He said he would immediately begin a weeklong tour of Iowa. January's Iowa Caucuses will be the first test for 2012 candidates.

Moore said in a release that he is concerned about what he called the country's moral, economic and constitutional crisis.

Moore, a conservative Christian, came to prominence as a circuit judge when he posted the Ten Commandments in his courtroom. Later, he was removed from office as chief justice for refusing to move the Ten Commandments monument.

3. Roy Moore on a third party = epic win for Obama,
and at least a temporary fracturing of the conservative coalition.

Roy Moore running as a Republican = making it harder for social conservatives to rally behind the ultimate Republican candidate.

Run, Roy, Run!

5. Well, better him than an oil corp war monger like Bush.
Then again, I had hoped that Huckabee would help moderate the GOP until he started sharing some of his more radical right wing ideas.
Moore is just another weak choice in the GOP this time around, the big boys will jump in for 2016, none of them want to be the Dole or Goldwater style candidate for 2012. Be ready for 2016, that's when the right wing vote fraud and harassment will get serious.

12. Very common theme
I made a mini collection of quotes on this topic.

"Every man takes the limits of his own field of vision for the limits of the world." - Schopenhauer

"He that is unaware of his ignorance will be misled by his knowledge." - Whatley

"I know that I am intelligent, because I know that I know nothing." - Socrates

"Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge." - Charles Darwin

"The biggest cause of trouble in the world today is that the stupid people are so sure about things and the intelligent folks are so full of doubts." - Bertrand Russell

"The majority of the stupid is invincible and guaranteed for all time. The terror of their tyranny, however, is alleviated by their lack of consistency." - Einstein

"The fool is happy that he knows no more." - Alexander Pope

"Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd." - Voltaire

10. They all look like bunny rabbits, don't they? I think it's the teeth.
I predicted this some years ago, but strongly suspected he'd find the GOP far too worldly for his attention and start his own bible party.

25. Remember the fits Alabama fundies pitched when he was removed from office?
To refresh you memory:

AP / Dave Martin
Supporters of former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore kneel in
prayer outside the Alabama Judicial Building in Montgomery in 2003.
The Alabama Court of the Judiciary was reading its verdict against
Moore at the time. The court ruled Moore should be removed from
office for failing to follow a federal court order to remove his
Ten Commandments monument from the building.

A man of varied interests.

29. I fully expect him to practice what he preaches!
That means no lying in campaign ads (bearing false witness) or campaigning on Sunday (keeping the sabbath holy). Better keep his pants zipped, too, because adultery is a no-no. Coveting his opponents' contributions, # of volunteers or other material goods is forbidden, too.

Think he can do it?
