Source: NBC Action News

KANSAS CITY, Missouri - Shrinking budgets are claiming a school program that has helped chronically ill students for almost a century.

For the past 99 years, the Kansas City, Missouri School District has assigned full-time teachers to work in Childrens Mercy Hospital. Those staff members have helped kids from around the Kansas City areaand around the countrykeep up with their homework.

6. When my son was a toddler, he was in the hospital
at UW Madison for a week, recuperating from surgery. I stayed there with him. I really enjoyed seeing the teacher work with the chronically ill students. She did so much good for those kids.
