Kerrey (D-Ne) Says "Radical Right" Will Sped Big To Take Out (Senator Ben D-Ne) Nelson
Source: nebraska.statepaper.com

Bob Kerrey is lending a hand to Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson’s effort to raise money for a 2012 re-election campaign.

Kerrey, a former governor and two-term U.S. Senator, used a fundraising letter to tell potential donors what everyone has known for a long time: That “the radical right” will pour money into the campaign of Nelson’s Republican opponent, regardless of who it is.

The letter is going to 11,000 Nebraskans this week, according to Don Walton of the LJS who first reported on Kerrey’s effort.

Kerrey praised Nelson as having done what he believed was right on policy issues, providing Nebraskans with an independent voice in the Senate.

1. I don't think they have to.
Ben is not popular because he voted for HCR. I believe he's already toast. I guess if they're going to spend, might as well spend it defeating an already lost cause.

2. Lots of liberal democrats would spend big to get rid of Ben Nelson...
Kerry should lay off the bedtime snacks. The guy is useless.

Everything is relative.

16. Precisely. You can have Ben Nelson, or you can have a teabagger. No other options.
Really, any idea of replacing Nelson with a better Democrat is fantasy.

6. Compared to the competion from the right...

I want Ben. Both R's running for his job want to end MY right to be in a public union in Ne! Now if they want my union to end operation, what do you think they want to do to the rest of the middle class?

Ben has voted with labor 75% lifetime according to the AFL-CIO.

LINCOLN -- About 100 people rallied at the State Capitol on Friday in favor of reforming or eliminating a state court that decides labor impasses between government employers and unions that represent police, firefighters and other public workers.

Speakers, including two Republican candidates for U.S. Senate, said that the Nebraska Commission of Industrial Relations has been an impediment to necessary cuts in government spending.

“The taxpayers are not a bottomless pit of money, but you'd never know that by reading opinions from the CIR,” said State Treasurer Don Stenberg, who announced his candidacy for U.S. Senate this week.

His likely primary opponent, State Attorney General Jon Bruning, said that the CIR has been an obstacle to the cuts government must make in today's challenging economic times.

9. BOB KerrEY is helping him - not JOHN Kerry -
Bob Kerrey is the former NE Senator, which makes him a good person to try to help a current NE Senator - John Kerry is from Massachusetts.

11. Please identify an acceptable liberal who can get elected in Nebraska

You don't have to like him, but a Democrat voting for HCR and DADT repeal is an improvement over the Republican alternative.

8. He does vote R in the Senate more than most (to get re-elected in an R state)

He would not support EFCA. That pissed me off to no end. Better to have a Dino than a R any day. He does approve the president's appointments. He votes to end cloture on a few that he voted against in an up or down. He helped hold the line on cloture in 05 when we needed it bad. I will donate and work for his re-election.

17. Still better him than a Repuke. Though he's about as DINO as it gets
If I was in Nebraska, I would vote but not be moved to donate or campaign. I wish we could get a better Democrat in a primary. But that's hard in a conservative state.

18. He does vote more for Us than them

They want a solid vote them on everything the R party wants.

We had a perfect D that ran for Senate in 2008 and lost 60%-40%. He was a rancher. His wife is Jane Kleeb.
