UAW forces Bank of America to close temporarily over taking government money (Detroit branch)
Source: Detroit Free Press

UAW President Bob King and about 100 UAW members flooded the first floor of the Guardian Building in Detroit shortly after 2 p.m. today and forced Bank of America to temporarily shut down.

UAW President Bob King criticized the bank for paying its CEO excessively and for not paying any taxes in 2009 after it received federal stimulus money.

The bank’s CEO earned more than $41 million in 2008 and more than $45 million in 2010, King said.

“When workers are struggling to pay child care, Bank of America made about $17.5 billion on credit card and ATM fees,” King said while inside the bank.

26. Take you money out
Everyone should take their money out of these robber banks and go to their locally owned bank or credit union. You will receive better service and will not be supporting these criminals.

was GREAT and is apropos to your statement.

I don't remember it exactly, but it was something like, "Be like Jesus! Whip a capitalist's ass today!" I (of course :)) thought it was great.

19. A.P. Giannini spins in his grave.
The BofA you see today shares nothing with the vision Mr. Giannini had. Do you know that during the Great Depression, Bank of America never laid off a single person? The cut hours and did what they had to do, but not one single person lost their job.

Excerpt from Wikipedia:
Giannini is credited as the inventor of many modern banking practices. Most notably, Giannini was one of the first bankers to offer banking services to middle-class Americans, rather than simply the upper class. Giannini has been credited with inventing the branch bank within the city of San Francisco.

Giannini and his bank helped nurture the motion picture and wine industries in California. He loaned Walt Disney the funds to produce Snow White, the first full-length, animated motion picture to be made in the U.S. In the depths of the Great Depression, he bought the bonds that financed the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge. During World War II, he bankrolled industrialist Henry Kaiser and his enterprises which supported the war effort. After the War, he visited Italy and arranged for loans to help rebuild the war-torn Fiat factories. Giannini also gave capital to William Hewlett and David Packard to help form HP or Hewlett-Packard. At this time, HP made oscilloscopes.

25. Thank you UAW! Thanks for telling the cruel truth about "shared sacrifice."
The cruelty of the ultra-rich and their GOP puppets has got to be exposed over and over again.

Amazing how our broadcast media can criticize teachers and government workers while not sparing similar time for the way the profits of the last Trickle Down decades have gone so heavily (over 70%) to the already wealthy

and they want to keep cutting the subsistence programs for the poorest among us.

How cruel does the GOP have to get before our major broadcast media (privatized into the hands of a few giant conglomerate corporations) stop avoiding the issue, and stop pretending that it is about "shared sacrifice" and serious concerns about the deficit?

There is no reason why we bailed out BoA, who paid no taxes while rewarding its CEO, while stiffing us with huge fees!

Unions are holding these crooks accountable!
