UN chief urges immediate cease-fire in Libya

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is urging all sides in Libya to accept an immediate cease-fire.

U.N. spokesman Martin Nesirky said Wednesday that Ban "is gravely concerned about the increasing military escalation by government forces, which include indications of an assault on the city of Benghazi."

The U.N. chief warned that "a campaign to bombard such an urban center would massively place civilian lives at risk," Nesirky said.

"The secretary-general is urging all parties in this conflict to accept an immediate cease-fire," he said.

Maybe a strongly worded missive is in order. Isn't Libya on some UN human rights commission.

What a joke outfit.
