1. Protest against firing teachers & increasing class sizes
Students also object to a requirement that they take some of their courses on-line.

6. High school students did this in the sixties as well, when they
protested the war. Looks like they are becoming more aware again.

7. At one school in San Diego the walkouts were so large
that the teachers walked out with the students and taught classes about the war on the lawn.

8. I feel bad for saying this but, YAY!
I think I'll faint. My husband's father is a teacher in the Boise school system and a republican - I think I'll pay my inlaws a call tonight!

I worked at an anime convention when I lived in Idaho and frequently saw many young teens and tweens during planning and hanging out at the gaming store where our meetings were headquartered. I wonder if I know any of those kids...

9. For those who have Facebook:
Facebook group called Students Against Luna's Change in Education, which called for statewide student walk-outs today.

Maybe you can find and post a pic of the page?

10. Ha! Not just one school, either:
hundreds of Idaho high school and middle school students walked out of class today in Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Caldwell, Pocatello and Idaho Falls, protesting the Luna's plans to reform classrooms.

13. This is what I'm MOST encouraged about.......
This uprising is VERY widespread and disparate, BUT there are a lot of young people involved. They will take us old guys' ideas into the future.
