Edited on Fri Apr-09-04 09:11 AM by Katarina
ABU GHRAIB, Iraq (Reuters) - Insurgents in Iraq said they had seized four Italians and two Americans on the western outskirts of Baghdad on Friday.
A Reuters journalist saw two captive foreigners, said by the insurgents to be Italians, in a mosque in a village in the Abu Ghraib district. One had been wounded in the shoulder. Both were weeping.

Iraqi rebels say they have seized four Italians and two Americans on the western outskirts of Baghdad.

The claim has been backed by an agency journalist who said he saw two Italian captives in a mosque in the Abu Ghraib district.

One had been wounded in the shoulder. Both were crying he added.

The kidnappings came as Iraq plunged further into chaos - exactly onenyear after Saddam Hussein's was overthrown.
