CHICAGO - Long-shot US presidential hopeful Ralph Nader has called for the impeachment of President George W. Bush, saying he misled the American people over the reasons for invading Iraq.
In a campaign speech in Chicago late on Tuesday, the veteran consumer advocate blasted the president as a "messianic militant," and said he should be indicted by the US Congress.
"Mr Bush's behaviour qualifies him for the high crimes and misdemeanour impeachment clause of the constitution," Nader told college students, adding that the war was based on "a platform of fabrications and deceptions".
