Justice Ginsburg won't retire before 2012
Source: The Hill

One of the more liberal members of the Supreme Court said Thursday night that she doesn't plan on retiring until at least 2012.

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said she has "a way to go" before leaving the bench.

"I was appointed at age 60, the same age that Louis Bidenz Brandeis was when he was appointed to the court," Ginsburg said at an event at George Washington University. "He stayed until he was 83. So I do have a way to go.”

That's good news for advocates of the Obama administration's healthcare reform law. Ginsburg, who was appointed by then-President Clinton in 1993, tends to side with the court's liberal bloc in rulings.

10. Hair Boy won't get elected
He may get the nomination. It is his turn. But if he is the pubbie candidate, Obama will win in a landslide. So would Hillary or just about anyone else. The base hates him. He's a pro-choice, anti gun, health care supporting Mormon. Don't worry about Romney. He would be our dream candidate.

12. I didnt make the psot about Romney.
That doesn't mean I dont think he could win though. You're way to optimistic. If the economy's bad, Obama could lose. Right now Id say its 50/50.

3. Its not good news.
Anyone Obama would nominate would vote for his health care law.

all this means is she's risking a Republican president being able to fill her seat (if Obama loses).

6. Even if she doesn't retire before 2012
The 2012 election isn't until November of 2012. Say she retires part of the way through the year. Obama would still be able to choose her replacement.

8. Theres no way that would happen
during an election year. Plus just last year she said she wants to stay on the court for another 5 years.

9. Kennedy and Scalia are in their mid 70s.
Edited on Fri Feb-04-11 08:05 PM by mr_liberal
But neither would retire for a democrat, unless they were carried out.

I think Kennedy may have, but Obama calling him and the conservatives out for Citizens United during that SOTU speech I think ended any chance of that happening.

13. Justice Ginsburg has confidence in President Obama's reelection. That is a promising sign
We are going to hold the Executive Branch in 2012 and see a second term for our President.
