ASU(Arizona State) rejects anti-Bush concert
April 7 - A national tour advocating the ouster of President Bush has been forced to move its scheduled concert from Arizona State University.

John Ronquillo, one of the students involved in booking the concert "The Punk Voter presents Rock Against Bush," said campus rumors are that politics motivated the university to kill the show.

University officials say that's not true. The concert posed safety concerns, they said.

The show features major punk rock acts such as NOFX, Unwritten Law, The Alkaline Trio, Against All Authority and guest speaker Jello Biafra - formerly of the Dead Kennedys.

The Programming and Activities Board - an arm of the student government -booked the show in early February and planned to hold the concert April 16 on the Student Recreation Field.

But two weeks before the show, ASU officials pulled a use permit.

2. $$$
Colleges do not want to risk alienating parents, conservative or not, who are paying five figure tuitions. "*This* is what your student association spends *my* money on...?"

3. My alma mater.
ASU - One of the great party schools of the southwest. I find it hard to believe that many parents are sending their kids there because of the "education."

4. I went there too, for a couple years
And I hafta say it was WAY less progressive than UofA. ASSU was full of right-leaning repub business majors and focused too much on athletics. Some good profs. though.

7. Another Sun Devil here
I thought it had a great Psychology department as well as engineering and business. But I admit to doing plenty of partying as well. I'm sorry they caved.

8. So much for "Liberal Universities" That's a MYTH.
I work for a University. You wanna know what most the kids here are concerned with? I'll tell you

Beer
Spring Break
Beer
Sex
Beer
Getting that "License to Make MONEY" AKA MBA degree.
Beer

For every Poly-Sci professor with a Lenin goatee and Birkenstock sandals there's 5 former CEO's teaching business and 10 former NRC and Raytheon engineers teaching Engineering.

"Liberal Universities" What bullshit. They make Habitat for Humanity share office space with the College ReTHUGlicans.

12. Rebook the show as "All American Springtime Review"
And list the acts. Anybody who cares or knows will get it, anyone else won't notice.
