Rice plans no apology in 9/11 testimony
Reuters, 04.07.04, 11:39 AM ET
By Steve Holland

CRAWFORD, Texas (Reuters) - U.S. national security adviser Condoleezza Rice has no plans to make a public apology for the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks in her public testimony before the 9/11 commission, a senior Bush administration official said Wednesday.

<snip>

But White House officials indicated Rice had no intention of apologizing for the 9/11 tragedy as Clarke did, because the administration felt it did all that could be done to prevent the attacks based on the information available at the time.

"The people that ought to apologize for that are the people who attacked us," said the senior administration official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. The official noted that President Franklin Roosevelt did not apologize for the 1941 Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

To compare today to FDR's time is amazing.
This is the era of Politically Correct and speaking with more honesty and compassion. They are lost in the 60's.

I am also shocked that they would compare chimp to FDR -- FDR was a real President.

2. no, they're comparing sleezy to FDR. ever notice how bush's solution to
every single crisis is to be on vacation? he must be expecting either A] a horrific terror attack, or B] sleezy to fall on her face in front of the commission.

4. One of the members should ask her directly
since Clarke opened the door and laid it out on the table, its a fair game question. When she tries to weasel out of it, the admins ratings will plummet like a rock.

"Madam Secretary, Mr Clarke in his testimony before the commision offered an apology on behalf of the US goverment to the victims families which you see here today sitting behind you. My question to you, Dr Rice, are you prepared at this time...."

Clarke's apology was a slam dunk. Make her squirm.

5. Of course she isn't. Because she CAN'T! Clarke put them all
in a tight spot, not as a tactic, but because he was sincere and genuine.

The only way they can apologize now is with a full mea culpa followed by resignation.

6. Good, I'm Actually Glad About This
I want them to continue to be disgustingly stubborn and unrepentant. The whole country will see them for what they are...

I hope she actually says, with the families right there, that the White House doesn't "owe" them an apology.

The Bushies disgust me.

9. watch for her fake compassion
she will attempt to pretend to care about the dead, but like a serial killer who can only mimic what they think compassion looks like, it will be obviously phoney. Rumsfeld does that at his fan club press briefings. When the subject of casualties comes up, he will scowl and look "concerned" for 2 seconds, then return to joking and grinning like the ghoul he is. That is as close to real empathy they can muster.
