Sadr aide says Iraqis capture coalition soldiers
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/L07598356.htm

BEIRUT, April 7 (Reuters) - A top aide to the militant Iraqi cleric Moqtada al-Sadr said on Wednesday that his supporters had captured a number of soldiers from the U.S.-led coalition during clashes currently taking place across a large swathe of Iraq.

"Some tribes have captured some occupation forces on the streets," Qays al-Khazali told a news conference in the Shi'ite Muslim holy city of Najaf.

He gave no further details. The news conference was broadcast by Lebanon's al-Manar television station, mouthpiece of the militant Shi'ite Hizbollah group.

There was no immediate comment on the report from the command of U.S.-led forces in Baghdad.more

1. Uh oh...
Given what we've done to the mosque, I fear these soldiers will be made to pay for it...

Shit! :(

6. Why
Who would have thunk that 30 troops would be killed in a week?... This is street to street combat in narrow streets that the insugents know very well. If you saw Blackhawk Down then you would know how easy it is to be cut off from your team or group. This is very possible.

9. because I don't think they could capture multiple soliders
I think the soldiers would either be killed defending themselves or they'd be killed by the militants.

I just have trouble believing that they'd be taken alive. I'm not saying this story is false, but I'll wait for confirmation before I believe it.

Just, to me, it sounds like boasting.

4. While it isn't impossible, I find this unlikely...
I'd like to hear more foreign media outlets carry this before I read any further into this story, however this could be incredibly tragic...

GODSPEED!

I'm agnostic, so I don't pray, but the troops are in my thoughts right now.

16. Maybe they will lead him to Saddam's secret crypt
and Al-Jazeera can do a special broadcast of Geraldo opening Saddam's crypt. I'll bet that would be a big hit with the Ali Six-pack.
