CBS Radio News just said there's an unconfirmed report
of a helicopter downed near Fallujah. Also said that there's been over 30 Americans killed in the last three days.

Anyone else hear anything?

1. I heard the number 30.
I still don't hear any specific casualty reports from Fallujah.

6. They're not going to be in any hurry to release numbers
from what we've heard. Sounded as if they were starting to clinch up a couple of days ago, when they said they'd not be reporting the injured every day......

Earlier, heard that there were 13, instead of 12 who were killed in that skirmish in the town a few miles away from Fallujah.

2. Not about the helicopter. I'm trying to establish how many have
died. The Guardian says 30: At least a dozen US Marines were killed in the town of Ramadi near the Sunni hotbed of Fallujah, a US official said...Five marines were also reported killed in fighting in an operation to get Americans into Fallujah itself...A further three US soldiers were killed in Baghdad. The latest confirmation of deaths meant more than 30 US troops have been killed since trouble erupted in three cities on Sunday.

3. haven't heard anything about the helicopter
Fierce fighting kills 30 troops in 3 days
The mounting death toll, intensified attacks and growing unrest are putting a strain on American strategy.

4. The "30 dead" is old news from yesterday
The copter down is new news. Sometimes these copters go down with no loss of life. We'll see.

5. Link to some of these issues
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040...

Possibly twelve Marines have been killed tonight.
Depending on the number of Ramadi deaths, Tuesday's casualties could have brought the the three-day total as high as about 30 Americans and more than 130 Iraqis killed in the fighting.
Corrections welcomed.

16. Thanks for the info. Heard the term "LAW" just yesterday here
and had no idea what on earth it was, and was too timid to ask.

It's good to put the other names with the pictures, also. Very helpful.

Locals in Falluja said a U.S. helicopter had gone down on Tuesday but the U.S. military said it had no information.

In Falluja, where Marines were pursuing a major crackdown after last week's killings of four American private security guards, doctors said 36 people had been killed on Tuesday.

Among the dead were 25 civilians in a house destroyed by what locals said was a U.S. helicopter strike. A U.S. military spokeswoman in Baghdad said she had no word on the incident.

19. This is what I have (yesterday's totals alone):
12 dead from the fighting in Ramadi, no #'s from either Sadr City or Najaf, and Jamie McIntyre (CNN Pentagon correspondent) said 5 marines dead in Falljah, but said this *only once*. So I have 17 US fatalities (yesterday alone).

23. I'm Just Sick Of It.
I'm constantly amazed that people consider the deaths of the invading Coalition soldiers more tragic than the deaths of local civilians
