Palin: Tucson finger-pointing 'irresponsible'
Edited on Wed Jan-12-11 07:39 AM by Roy Rolling
Source: MSNBC

Responding to criticism that a heated political climate was a factor in the weekend attack that seriously injured Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and killed six others, Sarah Palin expressed "sadness" about "irresponsible statements from people attempting to apportion blame" for the tragedy.

The video, which appeared under the headline "America's Enduring Strength," was posted early Wednesday on the former Alaska governor's website.

Palin has been criticized by some for using crosshairs on a website graphic to indicate congressional districts, including Giffords', where she wanted Republicans to win in last fall's election.

Palin said she had "listened at first puzzled, then with concern and now with sadness to the irresponsible statements from people attempting to apportion blame for this terrible event."

The lady doth protest too much, methinks.

You heard of a "three dog night?" Her guilt has produced a "two-Reagan quote" to try to weasel out of culpability. Nobody expects her to be indicted, but to continually deny any connection at all by using lame excuses like "they are surveryors symbols on a map" and "Reagan said this..." is classless and uneducated.

There is a "lame stream media"---it flows right by her house and she is it.

Of course, this insane gun culture and lack of funding for the mentally ill are the biggest culprits. Palin has fed this crazy culture.

feels that she is in part responsible along with her employer Fox and Limbaugh, and that those of us in that 45 percent have been very restrained and responsible in our criticism, even now. Can you imagine how frightened this idiot would be if we used language toward her that was identical to what she used towards Giffords? It isn't that we haven't thought of it, it is because it would be irresponsible that we haven't done it. And won't. We aren't the narcissistic sociopaths.

28. Civil Culpability
Just Like OJ was found not guilty criminally, so Sarah is not criminally guilty. But OJ WAS found responsible in a civil court. Civil trials require just a fraction over 50% to assign responsibilty and I think that one of the shooting victims' lawyer will drag Queen of Denial Sarah into court for her bullseye graphic and gun violence rhetoric directed at Rep. Giffords.

32. Palin thinks everyone is as stupid as she is... .She looks through the scope of a rifle as often as
time will allow her to kill whatever victim she is preying on. I'd say she knows damn well what she did and is now relying on the public's stupidity and gullibility so she can bullshit herself clean. And she is expecting the media in her pocket to cover her on it. She thinks she can avoid responsibility for this fatal blunder, too. Just like every other crime the quitter thinks she's escaped. Palin will have to live with her hateful rhetoric, inciting of violence, and it's repercussions for the rest of this life and forever after. If she doesn't go away soon, we will get to watch her rot from the inside out.

Sarah Palin brands media's attacks over Arizona shooting as 'blood libel'
Politician breaks silence on Giffords shooting and lambasts opponents with controversial choice of language

Sarah Palin today accused her opponents of manufacturing a "blood libel" by suggesting her rhetoric and campaign tactics had anything to do with the Arizona shootings.

Four days after an incident which left six people dead and critically injured the congresswoman Gabriel Giffords, Palin released a video statement condemning the attack. She denied that a now infamous campaign map showing Giffords' electoral district in the cross hairs of a gun had influenced the shooter Jared Lee Loughner.

In an attack on her accusers, she said: "Journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn. That is reprehensible."

Palin's bizarre use of language is sure to provoke further controversy a blood libel refers to the false claim that Jews murder children to use in religious rituals. Giffords is Jewish.

"Blood libel (also blood accusation) refers to a false accusation or claim that religious minorities, almost always Jews, murder children to use their blood in certain aspects of their religious rituals and holidays. Historically, these claims havealongside those of well poisoning and host desecrationbeen a major theme in European persecution of Jews."

Full definition: Blood Libel

Could this woman be any more tone deaf?

An appeal should be made to all loyal Democrats and REAL American citizens to contribute to a fund to sue this irresponsible bitch for inciting violence. I don't even care if they can't win, it would be a way to bankrupt this bitch and her supporters. Haul her ass into court and watch her army of cowards melt into the background. This would possibly be an effective method to bring sanity back into politics.

47. "Blood libel" she says.
Apparently, Mrs. Palin has a difficult time making ANY statement that does not have violence associated with it.

I know it would be a good thing for her to run in 2012, because she's such a whack-job that we'd certainly keep the Whitehouse by a wide margin.

But, she's so frighteningly unintelligent and poisonous to the public debate today that I'd prefer to see her completely out of the picture before the 2012 elections. Liberals need to work to relegate this woman to a wilderness outside of public discourse. Some rich mogul should offer her a laundromat-restaurant-gun shop in Alaska to run. Anything to keep her busy, keep her mouth shut and keep her supporters on the fringe margins.

"Acts of monstrous criminality stand on their own. They begin and end with the criminals who commit them," the conservative Tea Party favorite and former Alaska governor said in her first major response to critics.

58. I have really tried to adjust my online comments.
Over the years, I have said cruel things about politicians.

A relative of mine had did business with a high profile Republican. I won't get into details, but after the relative told me some things about the conversation it made me examine myself.

I said to my relative, "you know, this has taught me to watch my words. These are real people, and it's just as bad to say something unkind about them as it is about your next door neighbor." IOW, stick to the issues.

Now this woman, Palin, has a direct link to Rep. Giffords through her map, which Giffords HERSELF addressed. She STILL feels NO guilt about that map, or her rhetoric.

I really cannot stand this woman.

i was involved in a local mayoral campaign that got really ugly. i was personally threatened by the candidate hmself,(after he unsuccessfully tried to hire me away) as was his opponent who I worked for. Much nastiness, anti semitism, and no legal remedy either. The threats were vague enough that they covered their asses. But I never saw so much ugliness close up. I have been thinking about it too much lately. Sad.

57. The fact that the right-wing is so defensive betrays the fact that
they know what is being said is absolutely true, but they are in denial.

Confront a drunk about his alcoholism. Tell someone that they really should lose a bit of weight.

Or correct someone who is abusing their child in the grocery store.

What kind of reaction do you get?

Yes. Precisely the reaction that people on the right are giving.

We are making progress. Next time one of them slips, we need to point it out. And we need to do that over and over. They do not realize that the images and metaphors they use incite violence. That is because violence is engrained in their deepest psyches -- a part of their earliest childhood memories (at least for many of them).

Look at what we know about the family histories of people like Beck. Just think about it.

61. 'Blood libel' ?
http://onfaith.washingtonpost.com/onfaith/undergod/2011...

<snip>

The term refers to the false claim made by Christians starting in the Middle Ages that Jews murder non-Jews and use their blood for ritual or medicinal purposes. According to the Anti-Defamation League, the words are connected to anti-Semitism and have a long and painful history for Jews:

"The allegation that Jews murder non-Jews to use their blood for ritual or medicinal purposes dates back to the Middle Ages and has spawned many variants over time. Jewish law expressly prohibits the consumption of any blood. Nevertheless it was alleged that Jews drank Christian blood on Passover and mixed it into matzah, the unleavened bread eaten on that holiday. During medieval times two popes expressly declared such claims to have been fabricated. Nevertheless, instances of what has come to be known as the "blood libel" have persisted into modern times. Blood libels have frequently led to mob violence and pogroms, and have occasionally led to the decimation of entire Jewish communities."

Blood libel wasn't the only religious reference in Palin's statement.

Paraphrasing a verse from the Book of Isaiah, Palin said America would not be deterred by "those who embrace evil and call it good."

62. This sounds like a threat. Is she sending another dog whistle out? Read:
"journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn."

64. TF- so she is concerned about people targeting pundits because of less violent accusations and
rhetoric than the type she routinely uses? So people having reasoned discussions puts her in danger- but her vitriol and hate is and was never a problem?

78. On the day of the Memorial Service, she releases a video about her being the
victim, about how accusations relating to her behavior made her sad. Not a word about her sadness for the real victims of the real tragedy and their bereaved ones.

Vintage Palin. Ed Shultz nailed it beautifully last night.
