Advocates Rally for Health Care
Source: Vermont Public Radio

Vermont lawmakers had barely taken their seats on Wednesday when more than 200 advocates for single-payer health care rallied at the Statehouse and then met with legislative leaders.

2. Why? The repuke house doesn't give a damn about them.
The Democrats shut single-payer advocates out of the HCR debate. What makes you think republicans would listen to them? Their energies are better spent in Vermont where single payer has a chance.

3. Agreed. One of our founding Health Care for All-WA members laughed at those of us
--who put effort into advocating national single payer in 2009. He has been gracious enough not to say "I told you so."

could get a note she had written about single payer to President Obama in the WH, then showing up at a venue where he was speaking with a sign about single payor. She was on Bill Moyers Journal. (Dr. Margaret Flowers) Flowers was also one of the drs. arrested at the Senate.

And, of course, Obama refused to meet with doctors and other caregivers who had marched across the try to speak with him (and raise awareness).

Heck, he dodged members of the House who wanted only to see him about the lame public option in the House Bill. Met with them only after the Senate had already passed the health insurer/Collins bill, er, Baucus bill.

RIP, Dave

Some can blame it on Congress if they wish, but Obama is leader of the Party and had a lot to say about what went on in Congress. IMO, deals were made well before. Look at how fast the WH killed the drug re-importation bill. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/06/health/policy/06insur...

Just as Dems in both Houses passed his compromise with Mitch, though it stuck in their craw, just as they quickly killed the drug re-importation bill on his say so, they followed his lead on so-called health care reform.

5. Every town on every street corner should be selling MEDICARE FOR ALL buttons ....
Edited on Thu Jan-06-11 04:55 AM by defendandprotect
and everyone should be wearing them!!

Same with protecting Social Security and Medicare!!

Now ... who might organize something like this -- ?

Democrats, you say?

That's the first thing we should notice, is that our Democratic Party is

doing little to nothing to protect the health of the public and safety nets!

Local parties?

National party?

Where are the women's groups which should be so interested in this subject with

women having so little in the way of pensions -- health care coverage?

Where is the NAACP on this with their members being so fragile in our nation and

economy?

Where is League of Women Voters?

Where are homosexual rights groups on this -- they were so long cut off from

benefits - pensions of partners -- Social Security/medicare when they had a partner!

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
