Senate set to vote on tax package Wednesday
Source: CNN

Washington (CNN) -- The Senate will vote on the tax and benefits package negotiated by President Barack Obama and Republican leaders on Wednesday.

Senators made speeches into the evening Tuesday about the package and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, confirmed that the final vote would take place Wednesday. But as senators cleared the way for the pivotal vote, House Democrats argued about whether they will change the measure after an expected Senate approval.

The measure received strong bipartisan support in clearing a key Senate procedural hurdle Monday, with an 83-15 vote to end debate.

The package includes a two-year extension of the Bush-era tax cuts set to expire December 31, and also would extend unemployment benefits for 13 months, cut the payroll tax by 2 percentage points for a year, lower a restored estate tax, and continue a series of other tax breaks.

1. We need to email or call our Senators with our thoughts on
this bill and do so now.

Thanks for Posting!

2. I already did but it's hopeless.
Only 15 Senators voted against it on the cloture vote.

3. I think it's adorable that you still think our calls and emails matter to them.

I don't anymore, but I called Brown and Kerry last week anyway and I see my calls (and those of many others) had the same effect they usually do.

When do you think the Senate last voted 85 to 15 on anything of comparable significance?

Maybe repeal of Glass Steagall--after Bubba said he wanted it on his desk ASAP?

4. Thank you for your condescension, however
while I have my eyes wide open and I truly do not think it will do a bit of good and that we are screwed, just what else would you do?

Do you have another idea, because I certainly do not and while this will very likely fail, but I cannot think of anything else.

8. I can think of a lot of things, but they are more in order of what the
brave students England are doing.

5. Nancy Pelosi could end this if she really wanted to...
We will see if she does...If she does allow the bill to be voted on that continues the tax cuts for the wealthy & it passes I wonder what folks here on DU will say?

...Will she be accused of not being a Liberal?

...Will she be labeled a Conservative and/or a secret Republican?

...Will she be accused of being weak & scared to cross the weak secret Conservative POTUS?

...Will she be sprayed with ultra-hyperbolic venom on the Greatest Threads?

Because non of this happened that I was aware of when she decided to punt on the Bush Tax Cuts for the wealthy until after the election.

I sure hope most here on DU will be just as critical of Nancy Pelosi as they are of President Obama...If Obama is what most here say he is & Nancy Pelosi does nothing to stop this WEAK POTUS & his secret Conservative agenda then doesn't she deserve the same ridicule that Obama the WEAK secret Conservative POTUS deserves?

...Or am I missing something?

7. Yes, she does, sir. And I'll attack immediately, though not
here so much. If she is a party to ending Social Security, she should suffer maximum disdain.
