Canadian PM's ex-aide: Assassinate Assange
Edited on Wed Dec-01-10 01:08 PM by Turborama
Source: Ynet

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange should be assassinated, a former adviser to Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper said Wednesday, highlighting escalating anger in the wake of a major leak of US documents.

"I think Assange should be assassinated, actually," Tom Flanagan said, speaking on Canadian television station CBC. "I think Obama should put out a contract and maybe use a drone or something."

Flanagan did not retract his remarks when asked about them later and added: "I wouldn't feel unhappy if Assange does disappear."

=snip=

Meanwhile the US officials pondered possible criminal prosecutions against Assange. There have been suggestions that Assange or others involved in the leaks could be prosecuted under the US Espionage Act.

3. that's it-- when political leaders begin calling for gangster resolution...
...well, on reflection that really isn't too different than what they usually do, but when all veneer of legal and civil limitation is discarded and they begin calling for a hit, there is no longer any pretense of lawful society.

There was a local anchor in Detroit 20 years ago, thinks Assange must die

Dude on Biggest Loser said he shouldn't die, but has to run the same workout he had to everyday for rest of his life

Kim Kardashian likes his hair, wants a wig from it after he dies

Snooper2 will give him free room & board as long as he is executer of his will when he does die :)

6. Its rather telling how this shitstorm against Assange didnt happen
until AFTER he announced the next target was a major bank.

These politicians, MSM idiots, and assorted water carriers for the elites around the world must think people are too stupid to notice the timing of their outrage.

7. Help Me Here - Is Assange An American Citizen?.......
If not - I don't know if he could be prosecuted under treason.

If you ask me - he is doing the job of what the MSM used to do. The reason that those in power don't like him is that he is exposing their dirty dealings.

I notice that Interpol has a warrant out for him. Interesting that it took him saying that he would be exposing a big American bank to get it to this level.

When he was only exposing political wranglings - that was one thing. But don't you dare start exposing the financial community. That is when we have to come for you.

I only hope if they catch him that WikiLeaks will still expose this bank and the financial community.

It's about time that people all over the world learn how we are being manipulated, played and fleeced.

12. I don't think anyone has suggested prosecuting Assange for treason against the U.S.
Well, no one officisl. Some DUers have, but folks have corrected them. Murder, yes. Prosecution or treason, no. Manning, however, might be eligible for prosecuted for treason.

Espionage is different from treason. I don't know how the Espionage Act reads, but some folks seem to think it covers what Assange has done.

19. He was as Canadian as I am... not at all.
Edited on Thu Dec-02-10 11:50 AM by Sen. Walter Sobchak
He was a naturalized US citizen and resident of Montana when he was hanged for treason in the name of the British crown. How bad were this motherfuckers lawyers?

I mean, I am sure they could have hanged him for something... but having no allegiance to the said state is a pretty absolute defense against a treason charge. And under the laws of the time the British did recognize the idea of repudiating citizenship.

13. he's Australian
And yes, whether they catch or murder him, Wikileaks will still release the files.

Australia has been trying to figure out a broken law they can charge him with, but so far have come up empty.

Holder is trying to find a broken law he can charge him with, in lieu of going after actual treasonous war criminals and torturers, but so far has come up empty.

Interpol's "warrant" is ineffective because he has not been charged in Sweden and is only wanted for "questioning" as a "witness" for his "failure to perform coitus interruptus" during consensual sex.

And yes, when they released disgusting video of a US helicoptor killing Afghan civilians, there was much outrage, but no calls for his death or imprisonment.

When he released thousands of embassy cables, the complaints about him escalated.

And now that he's planning to expose a major US bank, TPTB are having hissy fits. Fuck'em.

8. Actually, he's since retracted his remarks
http://www.cbc.ca/politics/story/2010/12/01/flanagan-wikileaks-assange.html

Tom Flanagan, a former senior adviser to Prime Minister Stephen Harper, says he regrets his "glib comment" calling for the assassination of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

"I regret that I made a glib comment about a serious issue," Flanagan said Tuesday in a statement to CBC News. "If Mr. Assange is arrested on the recently announced Interpol warrant, I hope receives a fair trial and due process of law."
