Crist to Caucus with Democrats if he won, according to WSJ
Source: Yahoo News. Wall Street Journal

For months, Charlie Crist has declined to say which party he'd caucus with should he win Florida's closely watched Senate race. But with Crist trailing Republican Marco Rubio heading into the final weekend before Election Day, a senior adviser to the campaign tells the Wall Street Journal that Crist would throw in with the Democrats should he stage an upset victory next Tuesday.

Re I wonder if he'll come out as well. n/t

Who cares? It's the Republicans who have their knickers in a twist about people's private lives.

3. Or the WSJ is putting the final nail in the coffin now that Meek remains.
What better way to insure no pick up of any more rethug votes?

5. Crist has been at odds with the GOP often in FL
Edited on Fri Oct-29-10 08:50 PM by ixion
I can see him 'throwing in' with the dems.

I think he'd be better than say, Joe LIEberman, and definitely better than Rubio, who's whack.

6. I believe it
He's burnt his bridges with the Repubs and then some. Besides, if he did get in, he'd have to choose a side for re-election purposes and it's pretty clear the Repubs don't want him.

15. if U want to let UR FEAR vote for a republican - go ahead and be like our
chicken congress and POTUS and give away public option and other things the people wanted. I don't want CRIST - I want a DEMOCRAT - NO I don't like Bill or the fact that he spoiled the Attorney General Race years ago - he is no better than Crist - center to right - not left at all -

11. i'm thinking Lieberman, DINO
Crist is no Bernard Sanders, given that Crist used to be a Republican. That's what I'm expecting, as much as I know about Crist, who's pro-gun rights and death penalty.)

17. Oh Really? Then he should have run as a Democrat
In which case there would have been 2 candidates for the Senate in a competitive race, instead of a 3-way split with the Teabagger coming in first.

21. Yet only 2 days ago on Keith's show he would not commit to caucusing with the dems.
He sad he wanted to wait until the election was over and ask questions of both parties first. In that same interview, he also said he would not rule out going back to the republican party.

The guy is a sleazy political opportunist. I don't believe a word the man says. His flip-flops and habit of talking out of both sides of his mouth are legendary. For example, in March of 2010, he said he wanted to get elected to the Senate to help repeal the health-care bill. http://www2.tbo.com/content/2010/mar/21/crist-hopes-repeal-health-care-legislation/ Now he says he wants to modify it.

He touts himself as a supporter of the environment but as governor he stacked the wildlife commission with pro-development republicans who were supporters of his. This still hacks me off.

To fill three seats on the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission earlier this month, Crist picked Broward County developer Ron Bergeron, Orlando development lawyer Ken Wright and Jacksonville construction company executive Kathy Barco.
...
Among the three dozen applicants Crist passed over were several with academic or conservation backgrounds, such as longtime University of South Florida biology professor Henry Mushinsky, past president of the Society for the Study of Amphibians and Reptiles.

"Looks like the developers have won again," Mushinsky said. "I think his choices were extremely narrow and one-sided. Wildlife will not benefit from these sorts of actions."

I live in Florida and am floored how this man manages to bamboozle people into thinking he is something he is not. Meek would have had a good chance in this election if Florida democrats would have supported him but instead they got played by 2 republicans big-time.

It is especially disappointing to see so much support of Crist here to the point that some DUers are actually advocating for the dem candidate to drop out of the race thereby disenfranchising huge numbers of democratic voters who have aready voted in early voting. Its like walking into the twilight zone.

the seat is a goner, better to help move the republican party more center. Elect Crist.

28. Yep, he's done
Finally. He has been a great divider of the democrats and now he'll be history.

What the party hacks down in Florida have been doing, by running away from Meek, has been nothing short of destroying party unity.

Thanks to Dems falling for it, the rightwingers now know they can get them to vote against their best interests just like the Rs typical base does.
