GOP to kick off 'Fire Pelosi' tour
Source: CNN

Washington (CNN) -- Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele kicks off a 117-city bus tour in Washington on Wednesday morning as part of the party's effort to retake the House of Representatives.

The tour is called "Fire Pelosi" after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who would lose her job if Democrats lose control of the House. Republicans need to win 39 seats during midterm elections in November to accomplish their goal.

The "Fire Pelosi" campaign began in March after the House voted to pass a landmark health care reform bill opposed by all Republicans. Pelosi, who helped lead the charge to pass the measure, the biggest expansion of federal health care guarantees since Medicare and Medicaid were enacted more than four decades ago, became the target of the GOP.

The party has a website dedicated to the cause -- firenancypelosi.com -- which shows the House speaker with a clenched fist in front of a background of flames and tells donors that if Republicans take 39 seats from the Democrats in November, it means "No More Madam Speaker."

4. Nice, they threw in a map to make people feel bad about their state..
if they don't pony up. Once again, I predict a trouncing of the R's. A party w/no ideas, (except to block legislation and go back to the 19th Century), fracture by teabaggers isn't going to do a damn thing. Looks like DE might be a (D) Senate win as the R's scramble to patch things up. Things are getting interesting, and I don't see an R/teabag win anywhere. Like I said months ago, things are not as bleak as the media is reporting...in fact, things look pretty good...:D

5. I'm with you, Ras
It's normal to expect losses in the mid-terms, but things are nowhere near as dire as the debbie downers would have us believe. And on the positive side, we still have many weeks of continued voter exposure to the crazy of the wingnut candidates. :)

6. Yep...these people are certifiably nuts...
and that helps us immeasurably...there is some flowover as well...if the nutjobs are seen as legit R's in some states, legit R's could face backlash from voters afraid they may turn into serious nutjobs.

Dick Armey has done a lot to fracture the GOP, and for that, i have to thank him...:D

7. I also find the "Madam Speaker" more than a bit "coded sexism"

8. That's a very good point
Just more of the dog-whistle demonization they are so very good at.

11. The Right may be more familiar with her than many on the Left
They've been demonizing her by name all over wingnut talk radio and blogs for a long time now, at least as far back as the HCR battle. Just ask any teabagger who she is, and you'll get an earful...
