View of Obama dims in Arab world
Source: Washington — Reuters

A majority of people in the Arab world now hold a negative view of President Barack Obama and the United States in a substantial change from how he was seen at the start of his presidency, according to a new public opinion poll.

Sixty-two per cent hold a dim view of Mr. Obama and the United States compared with 20 per cent who view them in a positive light, according to the 2010 Arab Public Opinion Poll released by Washington-based think tank The Brookings Institution.

In a survey early in his presidency, only 23 per cent of respondents in six countries expressed a negative view of Mr. Obama and the United States, while 45 per cent were positive about the new administration, which took office in January 2009.

In the latest poll, 63 per cent said they were discouraged by Mr. Obama’s Middle East policy and 16 per cent said they were hopeful.

6. Heard this on NPR...but thought that it was weird...
So the report on NPR said that the "dramatic" drop in his rating in the Arab
world were due to....drumroll please,

him not having solved the problems between the Israelis and the Palestinians.

Huh?

Hasn't that cat-fight been going on for about a bazillion years?

Bush? Clinton? Bush? Reagan? Anyone else "solved" it?

10. Consider a consequence of the hope gap.
Had there not been much audacity of hope the resulting disillusionment from the paucity of hope wouldn't be such a shock.

Then there are some very real non-reasons. Obama's "Hussein" heritage didn't make him biased towards the side that God is on; Obama's skin color didn't help the oppressed to achieve their goals of either equality or domination; Obama's as much a puppet of Jews/Zionists/apes and pigs as * was. Etc.

To get at the real reason you have to ask not what the reason is--there are imperatives higher than mere factual truth--but look at what the expectations were and, as important, why the expectations were what they were.
