According to a schedule filed with the Employment Security Commission, 130 employees were laid off on March 12th, and an additional 25 are being let go Friday.

In December Bose announced the Blythewood plant would discontinue the production of a product. The radio and home entertainment maker is moving part of its manufacturing operation to Mexico.

More job cuts at Meijer

(March 26, 2004, 12:16 p.m.) Six Meijer employees got their walking papers today and others could be on the way.

Twenty-two workers have been told they can stay on part-time, or leave and take a severance package.

They all work in the company's information technology department.

A Meijer spokesman says because the computers are more efficient, there just isn't enough work for their IT staff to do.

<snip>

Meijer has let go of more than 2,200 office and managerial jobs in the last year.

3. I always wondered how many of their radios they can sell, anyway
Edited on Fri Mar-26-04 02:56 PM by JudiLyn
considering their cheapest small table radios cost $350.00. I inquired about the cost by mail once, and a salesman called me at home and continued to call several more times, trying to push me into buying one of the darned things.

Then I got a snowstorm of mail solicitation.

If they're having trouoble moving them, the should consider lowering the price.

I've heard them advertised, too, on Rush Limbaugh's show. I always assumed it was a big seller to the conspicuous consumers he preaches to, but how many people REALLY think it's prudent to spend $350.00 for something which is ONLY an AM/FM radio?

Maybe they are running out of people with excessive dispensible income to buy their product!

On edit: The second company sounds as if it's really struggling altogether, doesn't it?

Bose makes the most over-rated audio products I've ever listened to.
