American hunting Osama bin Laden with a gun and sword detained in northern Pakistan
By Munir Ahmed (CP) – 5 minutes ago

PESHAWAR, Pakistan — An American armed with a pistol and a 40-inch sword was detained in northern Pakistan and told investigators he was on a solo mission to kill Osama bin Laden, a police officer said Tuesday.

The man was identified as 52-year-old Californian construction worker Gary Faulkner, said officer Mumtaz Ahmad Khan.

He was picked up in a forest in the Chitral region late on Sunday, he said.

"We initially laughed when he told us that he wanted to kill Osama bin Laden," said Khan. But he said when officers seized the pistol, the sword and night vision equipment that "our suspicion grew."

US 'Rambo' on private hunt for bin Laden detained in Pakistan
¬snip¬

The self-styled "Rambo" who has not been formally charged, has visited the region seven times in recent years, according to Urdu language newspaper Mashriq.

Media reports have suggested that bin Laden, who has a price on his head from the US government and other organizations, is hiding in the pine-clad mountains on the border of Afghanistan and Pakistan.

He is believed to move frequently between the Chitral and Nooristan regions on either side of the border since escaping from the siege by US forces on the Tora Bora region in Afghanistan in early 2002.

17. Guy's too young to be Rambo, so our fictional hero is still out there somewhere...
...waiting for another sequel to draw him out of his secure, remote (and undisclosed) booby-trapped lair...

6. Why stop the guy?
They should've just let him go about his way and capture/kill Bin Laden. Otherwise it seems mighty suspicious to interfere in this guy's "crusade".

41. They stopped him
because their own culture is one that privileges vengeance.
They have no fear of military institutions. Let an informal group of armed men or one extremely enraged one cross their path and they will take him seriously.
This guy is just their type.

10. "Bin Laden" is just an actor employed by the CIA.
The actual Bin Laden is long dead. The new "Bin Laden" is the actor the CIA uses to keep the sheep in terror just when the timing is right. The CIA has already freely admitted that they make fake videos and recordings. I suppose the guy should have been headed toward Langley.

28. I agree fully, but just one question...
Do you have a link to the CIA freely admitting they do this?

I don't doubt you, and in fact I agree with you that it is very likely so.

But I would like to see what makes you say it is a 100% certainty that CIA does this.

http://rawstory.com/rs/2010/0525/cia-wanted-paint-saddam-hussein-gay-report-asserts/

From the Washington Post:
The agency actually did make a video purporting to show Osama bin Laden and his cronies sitting around a campfire swigging bottles of liquor and savoring their conquests with boys, one of the former CIA officers recalled, chuckling at the memory. The actors were drawn from “some of us darker-skinned employees,” he said.

Bin Laden in public enemy number one, this guy went to try to get him on his own, not very likely to happen but still what he is doing is patriotic. I for one will not make fun of him.

Anyone nutty enough to wander into a dangerous area in another country and think he's going to ninja the leader of a terrorist organization to death is probably unbalanced enough to kill a random person.

I see nothing wrong with someone who wants to travel abroad and kill one of the people responsible for such terrorism.
