29. yes it has
I heard that theory that Florida could be missed but that was as long as the currents moved west. That's changed now..and of course it would.

6. Breaking: Coast Guard confirms oil sheen in Florida Keys; Officials lay protective boom
Source: Coast Guard, WTSP, Palm Beach Post

Numerous reports of oil and tar balls in the southern Florida Keys and a confirmed siting of sheen by the U.S. Coast Guard prompted officials at the Dolphin Research Center in Grassy Key and Hawk’s Cay Resort in Duck Key to lay protective booming around their caged dolphin habitat. …

The Coast Guard station in Key West received reports of an oily substance and tar balls approximately four nautical miles south of Long Key. A Coast Guard HU-25 Guardian aircraft from Coast Guard Air Station Miami conducted an aerial search and confirmed the presence of sheening in the vicinity of Duck Key.

21. Those booms have to be placed...
in a timely manner from what I know. The waves will move them around so you just can't put them in one place and wait you have to put them down as the oil gets there. I am simply repeating what a friend of mine told me who has worked with oil clean up in the past. Basically it is a timing factor.

Another thing many people simply do not understand is human beings do have the capability to guard entire wetlands or coral reefs...The distances are simply to big!

So, people will not even think about this and rather just blame Obama for not doing anything!

This spill has only just begun to do its damage! I can't stand to think what this spill is going to do.

22. Yeah, you can't believe most of the MSM hype. I wonder when BP will start
feeding more and more bucks to the MSM to air their commerncials... I hear one has started now, but I've not seen it here. Feeding the MSM big bucks for commercials is like payoff hush money to keep it toned down IMO. Big money talks and controls the MSM.

16. Don't worry. Our corporate overlord (BP) will sort out the truth and let us know.
I just keep thinking of this clip from Planet of the Apes.

You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!
Not quite the same type of destruction, but the Ocean and sand fit. :scared:

19. Yeah, good analogy. I remember that scene so well, and so much truth in it... I feel
like I'm watching a slow motion train wreck. Earth needs an intergalactic patrol to grab many inhabitants by the shoulders, shake, and ask, "with the F are you doing..."

24. I know what you mean.
As I mentioned in a thread yesterday about species extinction, it will be our turn sooner than later if we keep this sort of **** up.

I can't even imagine what it must be like to live there and watch this happening and know that you're basically watching your life die in front of your eyes.

26. And likely generations to come... there probably goes the family business for
many that has been carried for a couple or more generations, for many, at minimal, going out of business because they can't maintain the overhead. It is such PURE BS by BP that they are going to cover costs... are they going to look into a crystal ball and determine the affect on future generations and give a payout for the unborn yet that might have carried on the family business. So much BS today...

Huge areas covered with globs of reddish brown gooey oil patches are officially being called by the non-threatening term "oil sheen".
