Powell Tells Saudis U.S. Troubled by Arrests
RIYADH (Reuters) - Secretary of State Colin Powell (news - web sites) had a "candid" exchange with Saudi Arabia's rulers on Friday over their arrest of reformists and said Washington was troubled by restrictions on free speech in the kingdom.

"We have concerns when people who are trying to express their views, and do it in an open and democratic way, are not able to do so," Powell said after talks with Saudi Arabia's de facto ruler Crown Prince Abdullah.

<snip>
"These people sowed dissension when the whole country was looking for unity and a clear vision, especially at a time when it is facing a terrorist threat," he said.

3. Is Powell as "troubled" as * is about gay marriages?
I doubt it. "troubled" is Powel- speak for "we would like to ignore it and would if it weren't an election year so could you please tone it down at least until the election is over?"

6. I think Powell should be more concerned about the 18 citizens
arrested in San Fran and the so-called "free speech zones."

"Each nation has to find its own path and follow that path at its own rate or speed," he said. "The United States...stand ready to help."

9. Is Powell concerned about people being held at Guanatanmo?
I would say the U.S. has started emulating the Saudis, but it is more like the other way around in this case.

10. Why would anyone listen to Powell again?
Powell is no longer anything but a stooge for an idiot. He sold his dignity, honor, and manhood, and sold it cheaply.
