Bob McDonnell distances from himself Ken Cuccinelli
Edited on Mon Mar-15-10 06:34 PM by Faygo Kid
Source: Politico

Virginia GOP Gov. Bob McDonnell tried to make clear Monday that he does not agree with a suggestion by close ally, state Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, that President Barack Obama was not born in United States.

Cuccinelli also distanced himself from his earlier words Monday, saying he was speaking hypothetically.

The liberal Virginia blogger “Not Larry Sabato” on Monday posted an audio clip of Cuccinelli saying it was “possible” that he might “challenge” a federal law as illegitimate because “someone qualified to be President didn’t sign it.”

“Someone is going to have to come forward with nailed down testimony that he was born in place B, wherever that is,” the attorney general said. “You know, the speculation is Kenya. And that doesn’t seem beyond the realm of possibility.” The date of the recording was not known. . .

My poor neighbors in Virginia have elected a total whackjob as Attorney General. Geez, if even wingnut Bob McDonnell has to disavow him - wow. (ON EDIT: That's the way Politico ran the headline. Politico is not good at all, but I had to post this one.)

2. they are on the same side, playing classic "good cop/bad cop"
Bob M wants to appear "centrist" because he's hoping to ride the GOP gravy train as Veep (or Prez) on the next ticket.

He and C are two peas in a pod.

8. I live in Virginia, unfortunately.
I expect those two will have US trying to secede soon. I did not vote for him (obviously), but the alternative, Creigh Deeds, is no great shakes, either. I almost sat out an election for the first time in my life. Deeds is your classic rural Blue Dog. :( But I held my nose, and voted for him anyway. Shithead McDonnell won by 17 fucking points. I wonder how many people thought like me, and actually did stay home?

We have to start running real liberals, or we are going to see this over and over again. What happened in Virginia is probably what happened in Massachusetts, too. A milquetoast, distant, I-don't-really-care-that-much type is not going to cut it anymore.

Jesus, I cannot believe we have these two assholes for three more years.

13. Sorry. I don't consider someone
who said he would 'opt-out' of the public option, if possible, a liberal.

I also don't consider someone a liberal if he is not for same-sex marriage, or equal rights.

He might be a democrat, but he is certainly not a liberal.

17. I'm merely talking of your choice of words is all.
Its just downright scary to me, almost but not quiet as much as the words "real conservative" that those on the far right are lobbing around so much lately.

9. McDonnell didn't actually disagree with the the birther statement, his spokeswoman did.
"McDonnell’s spokeswoman Stacy Johnson originally said that “All questions should be directed to the Office of the Attorney General.” .....Pressed on the close tie the two politicians have shared, Johnson responded: “The President was born in the United States. This is a non-issue and we will have no further comment.” "

14. That's only because "Bob" wants to run for President in 2012.
With all the cuts he's making in Virginia's Education funds - trust me, as a citizen - you don't want McDonnell to run our nation.

16. I bet you that his mentor, Pat Robertson, is a Birther
Its pathetic that independents and a few Democrats voted for this guy. They have been rewarded with cuts to the state school budget and social programs. I voted for Deeds.

18. Virginia has also enacted legislation that makes it illegal for Virginians
to be required to buy health insurance.

Should HCR make it through the congress, I believe many states will enact similar legislation.
