The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issued the approval late last week, which goes into effect Feb. 23. It noted that Google Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of the company, met criteria for a “Category 1 seller in all regions.”

could be used without releasing it in to the atmosphere?

With all the garbage we produce and overflowing land fills, maybe that could be utilized?

22. i remember google uses methane but another plant was using natural gas
Google also uses solar panels, so they are trying. if they only produce enough for themselves alone that is good. selling is better

7. Why is selling energy evil?
Maybe it's evil with Exxon and Souther Company do it but Google is big time in to renewables.

It's about time we had some innovation in the energy sector. Google has the clout to get this done.

12. From an investor's point of view...
It's usually a bad idea for a successful company like Google to stray too far from its core business, especially this far afield.

13. Its a good thing
Lets have some competition in the energy markets. The big oil companies want to milk out the rest of the oil fields, raising the prices as the supply is depleted, for as long as they can before using all that obscene profit to buy out all the solar, wind and other alternative energy companies so they will still be the energy kings and control the prices. And most likely only develop energies systems that gouge the consumer, as opposed to say working towards better solar panels that would make home-owners self sufficient. I'm not saying Google is that altruistic either, but they can't be worse than what we have now.

16. with an electrical grid that looks more like broadband internet
You will inevitably have a company that either looks like Google, or IS google,
doing a lot of the instantaneous switching, sensing, bidding, selling and moving of
energy.
