AP Source: Man arrested in (Michigan) airplane bomb threat

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. – A government official says a man was arrested at a northern Michigan airport after making a bomb threat on a commercial flight.

No bomb was found. The official says the man was taken off the plane at the Traverse City, Mich., airport on Friday after making the threat. The official wasn't authorized to speak publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.

The Transportation Security Administration says the passenger entered the bathroom as the Skywest Airlines flight from Chicago as it was approaching the Cherry Capital Airport. The TSA says the passenger is currently being questioned and the airport temporarily suspended operations.

Charlotte Crosby of Traverse City says her husband was on the plane. He called her on his cell phone to say he and other passengers were being questioned.

"Update: The Michigan Messenger’s Eartha Melzer is at the Traverse City airport and spoke to a passenger on the flight, which only had 11 people on it. David Boyer, an attorney who lives in Chicago and Traverse City, who was on the flight between those two cities and witnessed the entire incident, said this is a clear case of racial profiling and that there was never any threat to the plane whatsoever:

“There was no disturbance,” Boyer said. “The passenger just happened to be flying while Muslim and happened to use the washroom. The reports that there was a bomb threat are completely false. A Middle Eastern looking passenger used the bathroom as anyone would.”

(my underlining, witness opinion)

8. That is silly
The odds of you being on the one flight, of thousands every day, of millions a year, are so incredibly slim.

We all need to realize that people have been whipped into an unnatural frenzy.

Things to really be concerned about and that are more likley to happen to you, but not worried--heart disease, obesity, cancer, numerous other medical conditions, workplace shootings, poor people who've lost their job wandering homeless that might mug, or rob you.

Pollution, or environmental hazzards. Like so much else about the media, they scare you about all the wrong things. Have a relaxed and enjoyable flight, and don't worry, be happy. We don't have to all be scared little cowards. That's the republican way.

3. I doubt there was a threat
I don't think a puddlejumper carrying 11 people is an attractive target for even the stupidest terrorist...

5. Funny
The attorney is ready to testify that the passenger has a case against the airline. He even has his tagline already "flying while Muslim". go figure...

doesn't matter anyway - you have pretty much no rights on the plane. The pilot makes the rules.
