U.S. Undermining Saddam Evidence - Iraqi Lawyer
U.S. Undermining Saddam Evidence
- Iraqi Lawyer

Fri Mar 12, 9:50 AM ET

By Michael Georgy

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A top Iraqi lawyer coordinating preparations for
Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s trial accused the U.S. military
Friday of hampering efforts to gather evidence by releasing detainees
linked to the toppled dictator.

"The U.S. military just releases detainees
without consulting with us. They are
releasing people with valuable information on
Saddam. They are undermining the process
of putting him on trial," Salem Chalabi told
Reuters.

U.S. military officials were not available for
comment.

Chalabi said frustration over the releases
was growing in the U.S.-appointed
Governing Council, with some members
discussing putting on hold the special
tribunal expected to try Saddam and his top
aides.

1. All I can do is laugh!!!!
I'm sorry... I want Saddam and anyone else to always receive a fair trial, but this thing with Chalabi and the US is laughable!

When are they going to assign his killer? They were/are his handlers and it seems he's getting a bit uppity on them, no?

He might want to remember to whom those strings are tied! :eyes:

Saddam will NEVER get a fair trial while the US has anything to do with it...period...end of story.

7. this is the less famous brother, the one not wanted for embezzlement
in Jordan. Apparently they have a "separation of power mongering" agreement.

4. Bush was also sending U.S. lawyers to sift through evidence
To help the prosecution. To destroy anything harmful to Bushco is more likely.

Chalabi better be careful - the family name will only take him so far, when it comes to the BFEE.
