Ft. Hood officials have reported a violent incident has occurred on post but details have not been released. Unconfirmed reports indicate there are between twelve and fifteen victims involved in this possible shooting incident.

Details have not been released but it is known that ambulances and police are converging on a location in the center of the sprawling military post.

Ambulances from several agencies have been dispatched.

One unconfirmed report indicates an armed gunman has fired several shots and may have hit several people.

Gutless wonders and government stenographers instead of investigative journalists?

What the fuck do you expect them to do in terms of investigative journalism in real-time during a crisis that has the base in lockdown? Call up all their high level contacts on the locked down base that are busy doing their jobs and compile the information they provide, cross check it and report it?

Anyone in a position to know exact details likely has a job to do right now. And if they were fucking off talking to a reporter instead they should be court marshaled.

Apparently, authorities are saying that Ft. Hood is "not secure," so it sounds like someone dangerous is loose on the grounds.

Armies and warfare tend to be typically violent.

Your entire point of argument seems to be that America is everything that's wrong with the world, and that if we just closed down the country and gave up our evil militaristic ways there'd be world peace.

You should travel the globe a bit. You haven't seen evil militaristic. I lived in Peru for a few years and while parts of it are lovely, there are other parts where people have literally vanished and have never been heard from again. The difference is that here in America when you disappear the government will actually look for you.

Mogadishu does it mostly right at home fighting one another and stealing the neighbors 10 year old daughter for "entertainment". They also tend to use machetes a lot to conserve on ammo - sometimes for the "fun" of it.

Seriously many on this forum have absolutely no idea of the violence and cruelty that exists in this world where there are few, if any cameras to record it.

If killing, rape and torture can be done on the cheap, makes one wonder what can be done with the kinda money we pump in to our war machine.

Killing, rape and torture sound so ominous compared to a "daisy-cutter" or "white-phosphor." Is the end result much different? Do we not rape, torture and kill? Perhaps not as systemically... Should we nit-pick about a matter of degrees or agree it's all wrong?

I'm not very familiar with Mogadishu, perhaps I SHOULD research it. Though I generally prefer to devote my time to issues for which we share some responsibility and have greater capability to effect change. (AFAIK) I can't necessarily change what Mogadishu does. I CAN impact what WE do.

In any event I certainly agree with you that killing rape and torture are horrible, no matter who does it.

For the record, I don't think the US is the cause of all the world's problems. I think that is an over simplification.

Now, in fairness to your point, if you only look at South America, by itself, we've got a pretty bad track record. But overall, in the World, we aren't even close.
