BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. -- The skiing town of Breckenridge voted Tuesday night by a margin of nearly 3 to 1 to legalize the adult possession of marijuana.

7. Denver did it in 2005
A statewide legalization initiative got only 41% in 2006. Now, with the dispensary boom going on, I'm thinking another statewide initiative in 2012.

14. it's a nice symbolic gesture
but this only affects the town code.

marijuana possession is still illegal under state of colorado law, and can still be prosecuted, even within breckenridge under the state statutes.

fwiw, i support such legalization (or at least decrim) of mj, but this is merely symbolic.

16. Gotta love Colorado, glad my in-laws live there.
When will the feds realize this is the same as with prohibition of alcohol they can make alot more money and save alot of lives by having this legal. At the very least remove federal penalties and leave it up to the states. ANother thing I dont get is all the right wing limited government people are against this when allowing adults to do this would be lessening the governments involvement in our personal lives. Its just more bureaucracy between me and my happiness.
