Former Blackwater now marketing services to civilians
Source: The Virginian-Pilot

The Moyock firearms training center formerly known as Blackwater is now marketing its services to civilians in addition to law enforcement and the military.

A recent ad for the facility now called the U.S. Training Center in The Virginian-Pilot highlighted an array of course offerings, for beginners on up, for handgun, shotgun and carbine. Women-only classes also are available.

Shotgun Life, an online magazine for wing-and-clay shotgun enthusiasts, is promoting a three-day, $1,700 course at the center. The "shooting package" includes three nights at the Westin Virginia Beach Town Center and dinner "with one or two members of U.S. Training Center's management team."

Now owned by Xe Services LLC of McLean, the training center changed its name from Blackwater in February. It has trained more than 230,000 military and law enforcement personnel over 10 years, the Shotgun Life promo reads.

The center's Web site touts the company's "ability to deliver hard-hitting, effective training experiences for military, security and law-enforcement professionals as well as civilians."

Several voice-mail messages left with U.S. Training Center officials, as well as an e-mail, were not returned last week.

If you're going to own firearms, you should be thoroughly educated in the responsible ownership and use of them.

5. I don't think that's the purpose.
What it would be is to get an expanded listing of potentials for recruitment to their cause. This IS a political organization, and if someone spends three days with them they have plenty of time to figure out if that person agrees with their political agenda. Those who just take the shooting training may get an annual postcard advertising further services - those who are deemed worthy will get the full treatment - welcome to the Future Brownshirts of America.

You know, the way the Men In Black are recruited, only with no aliens and a lot less humor.

for quite awhile. They also host civilian shooting competitions at their facility.

I've thought it would be neat just once to enter one of the competitions (IDPA) just to go see their facility.

I'm not a fan though of Blackwater/Xe and wish our government would not have used these mercenaries.
