Bomb kills US soldier in Iraq

BAGHDAD — An American soldier was killed and another two were wounded when a bomb went off near their vehicle in northwest Iraq's Nineveh province, the US military said on Tuesday.

It said the casualties in Monday's attack were caused by "an improvised explosive device."

The latest death brings to 4,350 the number of American troops killed in Iraq since the March 2003 US-led invasion which toppled dictator Saddam Hussein, according to the independent website icasualties.org.
