Big city police chiefs are backing an anti-terrorism community watch program to educate people about what behavior is truly suspicious and ought to be reported to police.

Police Chief William Bratton of Los Angeles, whose department developed the iWATCH program, calls it the 21st century version of Neighborhood Watch.

Using brochures, public service announcements and meetings with community groups, iWATCH is designed to deliver concrete advice on how the public can follow the oft-repeated post-Sept. 11 recommendation: "If you see something, say something."

13. No, SEIU is the darling of the current local administration,
which is using it to destroy the locally-grown city employee unions. Just because the mayor is a Democrat doesn't mean he's not a thug.

The too big part is like 3/4's of L.A.

Morons! Time to set the citizenry at each others throats.

18. Dah tovarishch! We need to be good Communists and inform on our neighbors.
I can remember when the USSR was vilified and reviled for these very same policies. When the government has to go to war, even a dumb ass drug war, with We The People. What more proof do they need that they are no longer serving We The People in any capacity?

but I get cold at 75.

Guess thin blood makes me "suspicious" looking.

12. If Willie Bratton is for it, I'm agin it.
As far as I can see, the LA police force is among the most corrupt and dangerous in the country. The whole force should be fired, and another trained and put into place with no input from the current force.

15. Good grief!
Down here a lot of people put on heavy clothing when it gets in the 50's or even higher. Now everybody is gonna jump if somebody sprays for a bug in the winter and checks to see if their door is locked.

This is stupid. People are paranoid enough already and have a brazillion guns to boot. They'll see ONE of those things, and then it's off to the races.

every nerd in Radio Shack and half the folks getting ready for Halloween

*** Great - let's get the old Right Wingers into 'speed dial mode'. We should all start doing more of these suspicious things and put this ridiculous alert to the test. Or do we need to remind 'Bratton' that those folks that got on the planes on 9/11 were dressed casually, many sat in first class, were professional and business-like, were not suspicious, had none of these characteristics and THESE were the villains who started this whole thing in the first place.

I guess Bratton has joined the ranks of 'idiots with guns' like the rest of the paranoid far right wingers.
