Protesters heckle US Republican Huckabee in Jerusalem
Source: AFP

JERUSALEM — About 100 protesters heckled former US Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee on Monday as he attended a function to support Jewish settlements in mainly Arab east Jerusalem.

Two dozen right-wing Israelis staged a counter-protest, waving huge flags and cheering Huckabee, who has been touted as a possible Republican candidate in 2012.

Huckabee was among about 100 guests, including several Israeli MPs, who attended a private function held at the former Shepherd Hotel, the site of a controversial housing project for Jewish settlers funded by US millionaire Irving Moskovitz.

Protesters chanted "go home" one of the banners they held up said: "Huckabee, we are not pawns in your Armageddon."

The Israeli civic rights group Ir Amin, one of the protest organisers said: "It was no accident that they chose to hold the event at the Shepherd Hotel, one of the most disputed places in the city, symbolising the settlers' intention to control Palestinian neighborhoods in east Jerusalem to undercut future negotiations."

3. Arkansas? Do you mean East Texas?
God gave it to us. And we're going to be sending settlers to live on the promised land of E.T.!

'Huckabee the Maccabee' in Eastern Jerusalem to Challenge Obama

<snip>

"Former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee will take on the policies of U.S. President Barack Obama when he appears in eastern Jerusalem Monday to begin a three-day tour of Israel. Israel National News, Israel National Radio and INN TV will cover the opening event at the Shepherd’s Hotel, the Jewish-owned property whose renovation President Obama has tried to force Israel to block in order to prevent Jewish residents from moving in.

Nicknamed 'Huckabee the Maccabee' in name of the Jewish warriors who fought Greek invaders nearly 2,000 years ago, the former Arkansas governor will attend a gala dinner at the hotel, along with more than 100 guests."

4. Ir Amin gets it
I wonder why the American media is so obtuse that they don't quite understand what Mr. Huckabee is doing. It’s truly bizarre to me that for such an influential movement as the end-timers, that they don’t attract any more media attention than they do. There is an endless parade of “experts” on the talking chucklehead shows who will explain, in near pornographic detail, what certain fringe Muslim groups believe and what they’re doing to bring about their world view. But for some reason, there seems to be a tacit media agreement to black out almost all mention of the Armageddon folks and their campaign to get Jesus back here, complete with white horse and flaming sword to serve sinners a steaming plate of hot revenge.

6. I do not understand why RW Israelies put any trust in RW Christian evangelicals.
They do not accept them as Jews. They want to make them all Jews for Jesus. It makes no sense at all.

9. They (and we) would have a lot more "buyers remorse" if Huckles ever became President.
If anyone is a Dominionist he certainly is. And a Dominionist as President would not be good for anyone who is not a conservative RW Christain.
