Obama wants Senate health bill quickly

Moving forcefully on his top domestic priority, President Barack Obama told a powerful Senate chairman on Monday he wants health care legislation ready in the Finance Committee by week's end, according to numerous Democratic officials.

These officials said Obama made his wishes known directly to Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., at a White House meeting attended by administration officials and senior Democratic lawmakers.

It was not immediately clear whether Obama expressed a preference for a bipartisan measure — which Baucus has been laboring over for months — or a bill tailored more to Democratic specifications.

Still, the virtual deadline underscored Obama's determination to push initial legislation through both houses of Congress before lawmakers leave the Capitol in August for a vacation.

1. Wish in one hand, crap in the other, see which one gets full first.
Still, I'm wishing for true healthcare reform.

2. We are the change We voted for
As a former health care giver, I am shocked and saddened to see what has become of health care in America. $ 1. 4 million is being spent per day in DC by the health care lobbyists so your elected representative is getting taken care of and has quality health care we pay for and can't afford ourselves for our families, I know what is deemed, defended and supported in Tennessee and Virginia as quality health care and clearly profit care comes ahead of patient care. http://www.wisecountyissues.com/?p=62 MRSA ( methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureas ) is infesting our communities because filthy, uncaring hospitals and emergency rooms are breeding them and spreading them into our schools, homes, restaurants. How many more Americans' will be diseased or die while 74 % of Americans' are begging for health care reform ? More people died in America last year from MRSA complications than AIDS. When MRSA and a flu bug start mixing, it won't be pretty and we are being infected by the very health care system we depend on and trust to keep us safe and healthy.

3. Obama has to take a stronger role
This has become a joke. Not reform. One thing clear is that Congress doesn't give a ____ about what the public thinks. They are proving there is no difference between Dems and Repubs. In '93 Wm Kristol's advice to GOP about Clinton's healthcare outlined the same arguments and admits that even then, 79% of the public wanted publicly funded healthcare. Blue Dog so-called-democrats are following GOP advice "agree with it" and talk about bureaucracy, delayed waiting times, etc. The 'public option' is a trigger - like Plan D had a "trigger" that didn't stop drug prices from rising 60%.

These are peoples LIVES they are tinkering with. They don't care about representing voters.

What's it going to take? Rioting in the streets? We don't have a voice in government.
