China quake destroys 10,000 homes
Source: bbc

An earthquake in south-western China has destroyed 10,000 homes and injured more than 300 people, 30 of them seriously, according to state media.

The US Geological Survey said the 5.7 magnitude quake struck in Yunnan province at 1917 local time (1119 GMT).

It damaged 30,000 homes and was followed by eight aftershocks, Xinhua news agency reported.

I taught english there in 06. I hope its not as bad as the other quake last year in the other province.

3. My reaction to headline was, why are they concerned about the number
of homes and not the number of deaths. But there are no deaths mentioned. And only 300 people injured. How is this possible? Were the homes all one story structures made of some very lightweight material?
