Former U.S. Attorney Greg White denies politics played role in Cuyahoga County corruption prob
Source: Cleveland Plain Dealer

The federal prosecutor who began the Cuyahoga County corruption investigation said Tuesday that politics had nothing to do with its direction, and he cited his office's record of going after Democrats and Republicans alike.

White's office played a significant role, albeit indirectly, in returning the governor's mansion and other top offices in Columbus to Democrats in 2006. His office's prosecution of GOP fund-raiser Tom Noe and the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation scandal created such an uproar that Democrats won the elections for governor, treasurer and attorney general.

Herbert Asher, a political- science professor at Ohio State University and a registered Democrat, said that if a conspiracy existed, it would have ended once Bush left the White House and new U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder took office.

Subodh Chandra, a former assistant U.S. attorney and a Democrat who ran for Ohio attorney general in 2006, said he also doubts the conspiracy plot.

Dimora is grasping at straws to deflect the public's interest. The only problem is, by doing so, he is giving the appearance that the investigation is warranted.

1. I agree that Dimora is grasping at straws.
I like Subodh Chandra - I wish he would have been our AG. things would have gone much better.

I hope Dimora resigns.

2. Subodh Chandra had hoped to be appointed US Attorney for Ohio
I believe that there are two attorneys: one for northern Ohio and one for southern Ohio. Apparently, he did not get the appointment.

Chandra had done a lot of organizing and fundraising for Obama in the primary and general elections.

3. I didn't know Obama had appointed anyone for either office yet
I couldn't find a link for a nomination. Do you know how he nominated?

4. I searched on the story a few months ago and could not find anything
This is obscure news of interest to the political junkies, apparently.

5. yeah - I couldn't find anything about Ohio other than
Sherrod had recommended someone. I also saw an article that said Obama may keep some of the Bush appointees. I hope he's just taking his time or letting the DoJ take its time in the vetting process and Subodh is still in the running.
